Got my winters on as well. 225 rubber all around. Great for the front, but in the rear 225mm is no match for 320hp!

Brake bias is now off and is noticeable. Under heavy braking this morning I could feel and hear the rears locking (just a touch).

Winter wheels are also lighter another noticeable difference. Those 18" are heavy.

Yea the 205s are horrendous in the rear on acceleration.

Did you go non rft? What are you traveling with instead? Mobility kit?

Looks good. Of course, I have the same wheels and tires on my space gray 1er, so perhaps I'm biased.

Be careful not to let a wheel fall over and land on it's face, the spokes bow out and will make contact first and get scratched up. (Not something I would normally do, but it's happened twice to me, both times accidental. I never had that problem with any other BMW factory wheel, and I've had 8 or so distinct sets over the years).

Using my winter set from my old E46. Non rft Dunlop M3's on Style 44's with no TPMS. Have a Conti mobility kit. Will also throw a plug kit in as soon as I get a jack. Have BMW roadside and AAA (needed for the track rat). So I should be covered one way or other.

Probably the one similar to the E46's. Since they're all "Jacks o'death", the smaller and cheaper will do.

new 135is owner

I am a happy owner since Nov 10. I have recently passed 1200 miles and can now drive it less cautiously. I like the acceleration, comfort (despite the run-flats), and practicality of this car! I, also, like the DCT, both in S-auto and manual modes. This car compares favorably in the fun factor with my previous cars. Admittedly, I don't push the limits as in the past. One change I will make very soon is discarding the run-flats for a set of Michelin Pilots, 225/245s. Lastly, I did not look at the new M3 as I find the 3-series too big. I actually wish the 1 were even smaller!

Great car, and amazing car history!

I agree with you regarding the runflats. I was intending on using them until they were spent, but now I'm thinking I'll get some PSSs and keep the runflats in case I ever need to trade in the car or sell it.

Why'd you decide on 245 in the rear instead of 255?

Let's see some pics!

The ZHP knob is a completely different shape than the BMW Performance knob though. In my opinion, the ZHP knob provides a better grip in your palm.

I burn through too many tires to just set these aside. Next set though, will probably be 225/245 too. It does need more grip in the rear, but I'd prefer to get a better balance, and reduce the understeer. 225/245 will help, 225/255 would just hurt it.

Thinking to install the M front end bits to get a little camber help and improve turn in a bit. I'd install the sways as a set if the rear wasn't such a pain. Contrary to popular belief here, adding just a front sway will help initial turn-in but hurt mid corner.

LOVED my ZHP knob. And it definitely fits the hand better than the performance one.

Elwood answered before I could. I want less understeer. After I get the Michelins, I'll decide whether to change camber, too, for improved turn response. Thanks regarding my previous cars. They were all fun, but I like the newest stuff on the road! Maybe, because it was my first BMW, the '95 M3 gave me the most thrills. I'll work on the pics.

Are you guys noticing a resonance at 1800 rpm that causes a vibration in the interior? Is this the exhaust?

I haven't noticed this but the exhaust is probably the source.

Yup, almost certainley the exhaust.

It's more noticable with DCT cars....I notice it on mine between about 1800-2300rpm.

Once the PE has sooted up a bit, it will reduce a bit, but, won't disappear entirely.

My 135i Rally Pics - on Facebook

Goto Facebook and search for Team Swiper and Like my page...Pics are of the Rally North America 2012 Rally Dixie.

Approx 3000 miles driving some of the most scenic roads in the country, surrounded by eighty plus sports cars, muscle cars, and other unique rides, searching for secret check points at incredible places; this is Rally Dixie 2012.

Rally Dixie 2012 featured about 80 teams of two or more people, three racing venues, (Autocross in Nobleville IN, Clarksville Speedway & Dragway, and Talladega Superspeedway) thirty six stops at historical or scenic locations, and one great end of rally party held at The Ramada Beach Resort in Fort Walton Beach Florida.

2013 Rally is through New England starting at Watkins Glen and ending in St. Johns Canada. Can't Wait.

135is convertible

I just picked up a 13' 135is convertible. I'd love to post some pics but not sure how to do it. I guess I have to wait until I make a few posts before I can start a thread.

I found the vibration in the rear and got rid of it by hitting around back there. Real exact science there. Haha. But the resonance is obviously still there as you both mention. I don't mind it so long as it doesn't cause rattles in the interior.

One thing I noticed immediately is that the regular (non-sport) DCT mode upshifts incredibly quickly--seems like at the first sniff of 2000 rpm. Makes the car feel like it has about 180 hp, which means I'm pretty much always either in sport or manual mode.

Is that just BMW playing with the ECU so that it can report vaguely respectable fuel economy ratings (ie how BMW claims the PPK2 doesn't impact fuel efficiency)? That's the only thing I can think of, because you'd have no clue how fast the car was if you just kept it in regular drive mode. The sport vs. regular mode difference is much more pronounced than on my old 135i w/step, but not sure if that's because all DCTs are that way or if it's because of how they set it up for the DCT + PPK2?
