Indicator for low beam?

Hey guys,

Weird question, but does your car have an indicator when your headlight is on? I am not talking about the DRL Halo, but the actual low beam. Mine doesn't seem to have it and when comparing between the instrument cluster between my 1 and my M3, they look very similar and the M does have an indicator for low-beam.

Thanks!

And yes, I did check the manual, but it's very unclear in this area!

I think you're right, the answer is there is no indicator lamp for headlights. I always go by my instrument panel backlighting - it's only on when the headlights are on.

Honestly, I don't know. I've never paid attention since I just keep mine on auto. If I was near my car I'd go out and tell you what my car does.

I think the small light on the knob itself it illuminated when the lights are on. My car has the auto headlights and that's how I can tell they have switched on in the evening. When the headlights have not switched on the light is off.

Thanks, appreciate it guys! I too leave it at auto, but always want to make sure it's light especially during the afternoon hours or when it's raining to make sure it's visible to other people.

The problem is it bugs me when I move from one car to another with the exact same cluster but one has indicator and another one doesn't, so it stands out.

Thanks again!

Simple. If there's no headlight code and the switch is in the right spot, then they're on!

If you get your magnifying glass out you see the small green light on the knob.

Yeah just confirmed this because it seems crazy. But true!

You guys should use Nemco's method. If you can't tell in you instrument cluster, turn up the brightness.
