Found it! Picking up sat, decent deal (I think) - and my planned mods
Found a AW/Black 135i and am driving 4hrs this weekend to go pick it up from the seller. I think I found a decent deal too:
2008 135i 11.5k mi AW/Black/Glacier aluminum Premium, Sport, backup sensors, iPod, comfort access, premium hi-fi, moonroof, auto $29,500 Planned mods (round one): matte black grilles rear spoiler spring/shocks (brand tbd) matte black wheels (hopefully the VMR VB3 if they release it in a proper 1er offset) oh.. shadow badge, why not |

Sounds like a good deal for all the options on the car, and pretty low mileage too for being an 08!
Congrats, and please take some pics when you get it!

Ugh.. ok, didn't get it. Went all the way out there, was on way to bank to pay for it and the car couldn't make it out of the driveway.
The tires were quite low on tread (actually, quite bald), so much so that it wouldn't even drive on hard packed snow/ice. I realize the car with performance tires on it no match for snow/ice, but seriously, the car was completely immobile. Is 12k miles a reasonable amount of time to wear down the stock performance tires? I'm thinking it must have been driven pretty hard. Anyway, had to pass since it would have been unsafe to drive it home... the search continues. |

The fact that it was immobile in the snow/ice is completely on par for the oem tires. (I have a story and a half for those). I'd say that's way too much wear on the stock tires though. Some people on the forum might say otherwise.....but I bought my car with just under 11k and there was PLENTY of tread, now at 12k and still tons of tread on the tires. I'd definitely be wary of it being overly beat on. What about the carfax, when was the oil change? I'd be more worried in general if there was no oil change. 12k hard miles and no oil change would be a no go for me. (I turned down a car that went 16k miles before the first oil change) |

btw I'd be more hesitant on the fact that the guy...knowing the car, knowing the weather, knowing a potential buyer didn't bother to clear the driveway, etc.... that alone would be a flag for me
