Headlight washers stuck up??
So both of my little headlight washers on the bumper seem to be resting about 1/4 inch above the bumper.. The car is pretty new to me so i don't know exactly how they're supposed to sit but i assume they sit down with no space between them and the bumper..
Anyone have this issue? I hope it's a quick (inexpensive) fix

My headlight washers think pretty highly of themselves, but I wouldn't call them 'stuck up'.
Seriously... I don't have that issue but clearly something isn't working right. The fact that it is both washers suggests the controller is cutting the signal or current before they have completely retracted. I don't know the details on how they are controlled. Have you had somebody cycle the washers while you observe their operation? Perhaps there is something stuck underneath

I hate those things I always curse at them for ruining my perfectly shiny hood when they decide to jump in.
In any case, one of mine did that at first, stayed stuck a bit up when off, I gently pushed it down by hand but it didn't nudge. Now they do seem more aligned and lower so I try not to pay too much attention to it. I'd also be curious to know how they work. |

It is just fluid pressure that lifts them up. If they are stuck up, there is probably just some dirt in there. I usually lift them up (very carefully) and hose it out in there.

Ok, so I tried to just cycle the wash fluid and wipers, but nothing came out of the headlight sprayers.. Now what?

If your washer fluid is low, the headlight washers don't spray. It does not even have to be low enough for the warning light to come on. Also, the headlights must be on, and they only come on every 3rd or 4th time you wash the windshield. It seems they will always come on the first time you clean the windshield after a cold start, as long as the headlights are on.
I would make sure the washer fluid is completely filled, start the car, turn on the headlights and try again. |

I pulled the fuse for my headlight washers because I didn't want them to go off every time I used my wipers. Since I'm like OCD or something about having a clean windshield.
You can check the fuse if it's blown. Maybe the last time you used it the fuse blew and the pop up didn't close. Just a thought. |

would remove both and cycle water throught them to clean the lines out. I think that a good cleaning will solve the issue.
What ever you do dont us a rubber mallet. ugggg.

I'm tempted to tap those lines and redirect them back to the washer fluid container

You can have the headlight washer's coded out - if you really don't like them.
