Anyone else have an interior that creaks and pops...

Mine is mostly from the right side of the dash and A pillar. It just kinda creaks and pops over bumps, through corners, and under hard acceleration.

lol well at least it barely rattles anymore.

Yes mine does and it has since I picked it up off the lot. I've heard many people have had interior sound issues stemming from a small shock absorber device in the glove compartment. I think this is where my problem is coming from and sounds like it may be yours as well. I've noticed it happens mostly when I make hard-ish left turns. If I can convince them to give me a nice loaner car again I will take it back to the dealer soon

My seat creaks. I wonder if the dealer would do anything about this?

i also agree with suspecting that the glove compartment is the culprit. i haven't done anything about it but its gotten better. honestly, i just slap it a few times every now and then and it goes away

as long as i dont set the airbag off im okay.

Mine does the exact same thing as well only when it is cold out. Seems to me that it's the plastic pillar trim rubbing against the dash when its cold and hard. It doesn't make any noise when its hot out so I'm thinking it may need some felt at the corners where the trim meets at the dash?

I don't think its the glove box rattle because it's not a rattle noise....???

My car used to have a really loud "Pop" that seemed to be coming from the right passenger side corner of the dash. It sounded almost like something was hitting the windsheild, but there was nothing there. It would happen usually as I was taking a sharp turn (like pulling into a parking lot) or when I'd hit a bump shortly after I started driving.

About 6 months ago I actually did get hit by something, and cracked the windshield on the driver's side. Since it was replaced the noise hasn't been back. I always said it sounded like the windshield wasn't fitted just right, and was snapping into place, and now I'm pretty convinced that's what it was.

There have been a LOT of 1 Series owners who've had to have windshields replaced, and it makes me wonder if the glass is being overstressed at the factory. This isn't unheard of for sunroofs, but I've never heard of it happening on windshields.

I get rattles during highway driving and over bumps. It comes from my passenger side seat/armrest or maybe door area. I dont know exactly, it drives me menacing. Sometimes I want to stab the imaginary person in my passenger seat because i cant find where the sound is coming from.

It really pisses me off

Fortunately, other than the armrest that started squeaking when I put my elbow on it beginning at 800 miles (and fixed with liberal application of Einszett Cockpit Premium to the hinge), I haven't heard any others yet, knock on wood. 2010 135i (Nov 09 build)

Oh yes mine pops and cracks over bumps from the passenger side some place...mine is right hand drive.

Actually I'm surprised the interior isn't more noisy than it already is considering the hard ride and state of the roads here in the UK.

Also, my daily drive takes me over quite a rough road (not off road, just a crap surface) so doing that daily doesn't help much either I'd guess.

I won't be booking a dealer visit - its futile, they won't fix it. I've never had a rattle a dealer has been able to fix properly.

Does it pi** me off - yes! Does it make me want an Audi....f**k NO.

BMW has lost a lot of sales to Audi of late over here, in that former BMW drivers now seem to drive Audi. My feeling is things like interior rattles and the like are a reason.

I'm betting many people here would pay many $/£0000 more for a rock solid interior......

Love the car but yes, many rattles and creaks. One from the seat from having it too high. I think another is the cupholder. Also, the back seats creak the second the road isn't perfect.

My friend's with Audi's don't have creaks, but they also don't have the same performance (A4, A6) either as my 1'er

I had a rattle from the sun roof. I had it repaired, but I noticed it has started to rattle again. If you put you hand on the roof behind the sun roof, the noise will go away. I am going to have the look at it again.

Here is the comment from the repair invoice:

Headliner retainer frame makin excessive noise against sunroof cassette.

Removed headliner assy and adjusted headliner frame and applied insulation to sunroof cassette retainers, reinstalled complete headliner assy.

How many miles? And what is the build date, if I may ask? My 2010 135i has been extremely tight with the exception of the squeaky armrest starting at 800 miles, so that in itself was somewhat disconcerting. Fortunately the squeak was easily fixed. I've got close to 1700 miles at this point.

Nothing to speak of on my 1 either.
But, I tend to always have the audio system on, pretty much 100% of the time, so that helps.

Still, on the off occasion that I do turn the radio off, during a hard run on an empty country road, the interior is pretty solid.
Also, our roads around Chicago-land are notoriously bad.
I find the solidity impressive for such a relatively sporty/firm ride.

I have this SAME issue. My build date is 1/2010.

Any news on this ?
