When does "Year One" end?

I'm still torn between the G37 and 135 but wanted to know how much longer the "Year One of the 1" script over the ignition button will be available?

Another way of asking the question is when will the 2009 models be released?

I believe that the 2008 135 will eventually be a collector’s item so if I'm gonna get one I want the inaugural year model.

The thread you referenced above says week 36 production will have a new idrive set up.

Week 36 from what start date?

Also, will the week 36 model officially be a 2009 model (thus no more "Year One of the 1" script over the ignition button) or a 2008 mid-year modification?

Week 36 of the year. Sept 1 week starts MY2009 production, and no more Y1o1 badging or book. There may be a couple configurable build slots left nationally, but I bet they are few and far between.

Good Luck!

Isnt it kind of weird that the 08's have only been out for a few months and the 09's are already coming out in a month? I guess because the launch was after the beginning of the year.

Both cars are great cars so which ever one you will go with will be a nice pick
Just do a comparison test between the two, im actually thinking of getting
a G37S. But to answer your question i think the
year one of the 1 will end around october, but the 09 G gets a 7-Speed, for
AT so both have a change for the 09 models

I’ve test driven both several times. The 135 handles much better and is more fun to drive, however the design of both the exterior and interior of the G37 along with the technology it comes with shits all over the 135.

The G37 is also quicker off the line and more comfortable for long drives and is a better bang for the buck.

It’s all subjective and based on what the buyer values more. If a buyer values performance and handling then it’s got be the 135, if the buyer prefers design, technology and comfort, then is the G37.

I like both, thus the reason I’m still torn.

The G37S Coupe is the only other car I would consider. I am SURE it will be MUCH MORE reliable. BUT the G37S is VERY heavy and gets very BAD gas mileage when using its HP. I prefer the looks of the 135i, I also prefer the 135i sport seats and dash. I HATE the wishi-washi paper silver console in the G. I MUCH prefer the grey poplar or black trim in the 135i. I don't want black or grey leather because I have had both several times. The G doesn't offer any other int colors. The G is quite a bit slower then the 135i, at least .7 seconds to 60. OFF the line the G is MUCH slower then the 135i. The G needs to get high into the R's before feeling quick. The G37S will be MUCH MORE relable, and thats what makes me still consider it over the troubled BMW.

I am in the same boat. The EVO X and STI are out, so the G37S is about the only other RWD car I like. I DON'T like Mercedes at all. The G is a great car but I don't care for the interior. I also don't like the small interior color choices. The G37S Coupe IS A PIG at 3900#. At high RPM's it guzzles gas BIG TIME.

BUT I agree the G will be a million times more reliable then the 135i.

Man, I wouldn't have a G37 even if it was $25,000. They have the worst orange peel of any OEM paint I can think of, a lackluster engine for modifications without breaking the bank, lots of mediocrity from extreme platform sharing that wicks up profit for Nissan while reducing personality, that cheesy quartz clock, I could go on and on. The only thing that car has I would want is its limited slip differential.

I had a 2007 335i last year, and it was infinitely better than my friend's 2007 G35S. Yes, the 3 series cost more, but was also worth every penny. With a mild investment (Vishnu PROcede), I was making 80whp and 145tq more than my friend's car on the dyno.

You can get great technology in the BMW, you just need to pay for it. Design, I think the 135i looks heaps better than the Infiniti. Comfort, you'll need to step up to a 3series to compare, but I think my 3 was much more comfortable than his G.

i don't think anyone can order MY08 cars anymore at this point. if you want a year one car you'll probably find quite a few leftovers on dealer lots like i did. i managed to find a great one which suited my options preferences and got a great discount on it too, so i sprung for it, quite happily. i don't know what you're looking for in terms of options but you might be able to find a good deal on a year one car if you look around your area or on cars.com.

Last call for 08 orders was many weeks ago. That's the way most car manufacturers do their model years. The "new" models come out in the fall so the previous year stops production by the end of the 3rd quarter. This is also why dealers traditionally will offer better deals on "older" models in the fall - to stay pace with advertising and production.
