Talking FS: Adaptive Xenon Headlights and PASSENGER side Tail Light half price $ UPDATED pics

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
BUMP + Price Drop!

UPDATE: Driver's side light sold!

Got into an accident a while ago. The headlight brackets that hold these in place are a little broken but I was given the option to have them repaired for pretty cheap by the body shop. I said fuck it and ordered euro style headlights instead but I got screwed in the end because they mixed up the part numbers and I got US spec ones anyway. Also, other than that the passenger side has a superficial horizontal scratch which is easy to buff out.

Other than the afore-mentioned scratch and the brackets (both easily fixable) these are in great condition, just light regular wear and light pitting. There are no cracks, dents, or any other damage, and the seal is completely intact (except for where you insert the bulbs where obviously there are openings).

The accident was so light that none of my bulbs were damaged at all so I'm keeping them, but I can throw in some stock H8s or GP thunders to sweeten the deal plus I have my stock H3s sitting around somewhere.

Also I have a stock EDIT: Passenger side tail light sitting around, complete with turn signal bulb. I forget where I even got this or how much it goes for new, but it's in pretty much perfect condition. No scratches dings or anything at all.

I know headlights are about 900 bucks each new so let's say half that for the bracket mishap and the fact that they're used.

Driver side - 400 + shipping SOLD
Passenger side - 300 + shipping

Tail light - 100 bucks? + shipping
Everything (passenger headlight plus tail light) - 350+ shipping

(shipping doesn't apply if you're local to the tri state area but please don't make me drive to eastern CT or upstate NY or something)

also I'm willing to negotiate to a reasonable extent. I was gonna sell these on eBay but I figure you guys should get dibs.

UPDATE: I got pictures now! One of them shows a closeup of the horizontal scuff, and looking at these i'm not sure what exactly is broken about the housing brackets (other than missing one of the 25 cent metal bitch clips that hold the back of the cover in place). As can be seen, everything around the back is in tip top shape, you just need to insert the bulbs and you're good to go

Thanks!

I'm on my way home from vacation today but I'll have pictures up by tomorrow. I believe it's everything except for the D1S bulbs that control the headlights themselves since I'm gonna throw in the H3 and H8 bulbs for free. The little motors that control the adaptive headlights are part of the package as well as a bunch of the built in wiring. Gotta check if the ballasts are included when I get back.

Other than reprogramming, all you need to do, I *believe*, to make this set functional is to fix the brackets so they stay put (though I drove around for 2 weeks without issue with "broken" brackets) and install the D1S bulbs (excellent chance to upgrade to 6000K ones from e92-lighting or a similar vendor) as these bulbs are not included in the 900 dollar price when buying them new from BMW anyway.

But I'll give you some more info, as well as pics, by tomorrow

Thanks! I plan to install these onto my 128i and get the OEM version instead of going to DEPO route. Hopefully install and reprogramming won't be too expensive from the dealer.

Thanks again!

updated with pictures!

if you want the HID/ pure white or blueish xenon look, you can't go wrong with OEM lights, Gp thunders or an HID kit for the angels, and 6000k D1S bulbs! I'm more than happy with my alpine HIDs, and the depos always look a little "off" to me, too obvious that it's aftermarket.

So in this case if I wanted to upgrade the halos and regular low/high beams to HID/LED what kind of supplies would I need?

I see some halo LED kits for 89$... not sure tho what else I would need.

Also when moving from Halogen to Xenon would there be any other equipment items that I would need with these Xenon's your selling?

The LED kits are all inclusive, all you'd need is included with them, bulbs and ballast. likewise, HID kits like mine from Alpine are all inclusive as well, for 150 bucks from Alpine I got everything I need

The low/high beam D1S bulbs are also plug and play, you just switch them out with the stock ones, or if you want to save money, just buy the bulb and tell the dealership or shop where you're getting it done to install that one.

The headlights as I am selling them contain what is shown here:

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...02&hg=63&fg=05

As part numbers:

63127164931
63127164932

Left and Right Side headlights for vehicles with xenon adaptive headlights

This page, meanwhile, contains all the misc pieces you need to install the headlights, other than the headlights themselves and other than the bulbs.. some of these pieces are included, some are not. the dealership that's gonna install these will either have these on hand or have to order them:

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...06&hg=63&fg=05

The "vertical aim control" is the adaptive headlight motor i mentioned and is included

various "rubber grommets" and other small pieces and all the wiring is included

the H8 and H3 bulbs are included

the D1S bulb is NOT included, it's listed as 200 bucks here, but if you go aftermarket for a 6000K look you can pick up a pair for 150 bucks and swap them out (which is what i have done and they look GREAT with no yellow at all like the stock headlights are)

the turn signal bulbs are not included but are 20 bucks for the pair

the headlight brackets are not included and are 5 bucks each

and then the big one.. the control unit (one for each side for 400 bucks) i don't think is included unless it's tucked away somewhere in the headlight itself.. but it would NOT be included in the 860 dollar price from the dealership for the headlight assembly when buying it new anyway.

Other than the control unit and the low/highbeam bulb (which you're planning to upgrade anyway), you'd be paying for all the little parts 5 bucks for a cap here, 50 cents for a grommet there.

Still much cheaper than 860 bucks per side new plus all that stuff

Let me know, and thanks!

So im looking at 800$ lights 800$ computer unit + 50$ misc components + install which would set me at 1800$ ish I am assuming.

Also you say the H3 and H8 bulbs are included. Are these stock lightings for the Xenons? Or would I need to get the Xenon bulbs if I did not want to upgrade

Let me get back to you in a few days with a solid answer

computer unit is 400 bucks for both, not each so that saves you 400 bucks. You'd need the control unit no matter what headlights you get, oem or aftermarket, since the unit doesn't come with the halogens. The bulbs I'm offering came stock with my adaptive xenon lights too.

Okay so I would only need small pieces (~40$) + computer (400$) + install. You already have the stock bulbs that I could use? And I can re-use my current turn signal lights.

Would I need special ballasts?

No special ballast is required. It is not listed anywhere in the list of OEM parts related to lighting, and the control unit takes care of all the xenon related stuff versus the halogen lights which do not require the special control unit.

If you look at the D1S Bulb:

http://www.kbcarstuff.com/BMW-E90-33...ulbs-s/146.htm

You see that the bulbs themselves have their own ballast attached anyway. This is the exact same unit as stock, except it has a 6000K pure white color, versus the stock 4300K yellowish whiteish color.

That color is what I upgraded to (that you can get from e-92 lighting, philips, or even amazon) and it fits perfectly

What you see on those realoem.com links is literally everything related to the xenon lighting system and everything you need other than the reprogramming, and a lot of it is included and already installed into the headlight housing (motor, random grommets, etc).

i have the stock H3 and H8 bulbs (or I could give you the GP thunder H8 bulbs for a whiter look on the halo rings), the turn signals are indeed the same, i just checked, and you'd just need the low/highbeam D1S bulb for each side.

So you could get these from me, buy the control units (2 for 400 bucks), and have the dealership take care of the random bits and pieces (cheap) and install/reprogram and you'd be set
