18x9 Square setup??

Hello folks,

I have been doing quite a bit of reading regarding wheel/tire fitment and it appears that I will have to run staggered tires (245's front and 255's rear) to avoid having to pull my front fenders. I will be running GC camber plates with the Street/School coilover kit in addition to rolling the fenders all around.

Will I have to run a spacer for the front to clear the struts with 245/35's? Anyone have experience running this wheel/tire combo?

If not too challenging, I would like to run square 255/35 Dunlop Z2's for track/autox use.

TIA.

i am running 255x4 on 17/8,5/40 Direzza 2

you can pull the front fenders with bare hands(1 min work for both sides) and I don't run spacers so it rub once in 10 full turn locks

Awesome! I am very nervous about the tire/wheel rubbing on the strut. My suspension is on and wheel/tire combo gets mounted today--followed by alignment.

Did you "trip" the bumper tab? I want to know if people shave it off completely of just shave it down to the screw that holds it in place.

Cheers!

You should be able to run 255/35 with no problems with GC setup. I'm running 18x8.5" ET48 with 5mm spacer and 255/35 RE11 at -2.1 camber with no problems so far.

Alrighty, so the setup is on the car!

I actually had to run a set of 10mm spacers up front.

The photo below shows the strut clearance with the 10mm spacer (excuse the dirty shock lol). An 8mm might have done the trick, but I didn't want to take any chances.

These photos of are of my current stance (1/4" wheel gap up front and 1/2" in the rear). I added the 5mm spacers I was originally going to put up front to the rear. I have zero rubbing issued up front with -2.5 camber, rolled/pulled fenders, and shaved bumper tab. There is some rubbing in the rear, particularly on the right side. I rolled the rears a tiny bit, but not enough to clear the tire. A flat roll will sort this out--doing it tomorrow.

Track tires

Any reason why 245's in the front and 255's in the back will be better? My front Michelin's PSS have been wearing out on the outside and I think is due to under steering. I have TCKline coilovers with stiff springs and M3 control arms + bushings. I also have 400 Hp and 465 Lbs torque. I wonder if 245's in the front with 255's in the rear would fit and if would give me better grip and less understeering.... any recommendations?

Thanks.

Are you running camber plates? I have the same setup as you (with Dinan camber plates) and the tire wear is pretty even. I'm only running -2.2 degrees of camber and i have to get pretty stupid before the front end begins to push. Are you running camber plates? If so what camber and tire pressure are you running? I've noticed the PSSs are pretty sensitive to tire pressure (a little low being much worse than a little high). Between 38 and 39 psi in the front seems to be the sweet spot for my setup.

Why would understeering lead to uneven wear? Unless you're constantly tuning the car that doesn't make sense. How much camber do you have up front?

depends how the car is driven. I have more wear on the outside than inside.

more info on camber and toe specs. as well as what you use the car for

Seems pretty simple, grab the wheel arch with your hands and pull. The lip seems easy to bend by hand also, not that I've done it.
