BMW M1 test car spotted testing on Nurburgring!

I hope they get their new carbon fiber plant in WA up and running quick enough to get some more pieces on this car and get the weight down below 3300. Plus, I don't want Jeremy Shmeremy to be right.

A little late for a M-car no? The 1er design is already old and a complete redesign is only a few years away. Could be an 135is

This car has the M3 single piston calipers everyone loves to hate (not me). See attachment.

You are a little late to this discussion I think.

All signs, on multiple threads and confirmed by BMW insider SCOTT26, point to this being a short-lived M car, to be a grand finale of the E82 platform and maybe 3 production years....

It appears the M1 will share some parts with the M3 to cut production costs, and the engine in the M1 will be the basis for the next generation M3....

the sunroof was pulled in order to achieve a lower weight and lower cg that would be similar to a future 1M - that is my guess anyway as sunroofs up high and heavy are no nos on real sports cars

The fact that it has the M LSD and a wider track alone should be proof it's an M car. Why would they do that to a 135is when they didn't even give the more expensive 335is or Z4is the M LSD?

It's some sort of rule for them to run prototype plates I think. All the manufacturers do it on test mules.

honestly if you like to race then worry about weight or speed or whatever. but if you want it for the car that it is who cares whats on it. more than half of the people on these forums dont race their cars and they are worried about speed and handling and whats the shift ratio and blah blah

for racing fine but for being in the street and being noticed is different. bring on the heavy quad exhaust or the 20 inch i forged. this is why racers remove parts that are added weight. same with the M1 whatever you dont like...remove

Hmmm... BMW M team usually camouflage the car well during testing.. this car is CR and INMHO this might be a tuner doing some test laps..

Will these wheels not be an option?

Scott has already suggested that there will be 18" Competition wheels as an option in both silver and dark colours.

These are similar to those 19" versions in the M3 Competition Package are they not?

Could that also minimise production costs by utilising existing designs?
