Was at Tischer BMW last week and with freezing rain/ice in the forecast, all of the approximately 60 new & used BMWs out front had the wipers raised.
Better safe than sorry! Tom |

I have done this for almost all my driving life.
2 reasons for me: 1: Back when I bought my 1st car in '89. It was a '72 Olds Cutlass Supreme. 350 rocket motor...AWESOME. Anyways...one winter I climb into my snow covered car to start it up I flip on the wipers and they were stuck to the windshield. However the wiper arm that attaches to the motor kind of unscrewed itself. So once the wipers were freed from the ice buildup, I was still unable to use them because of that and I didn't have a socket to tighten it back down. Had to drive home without wipers during some snow...SCARY! 2: During the winter, your cabin gets nice and toasty warm inside. However, outside is still freezing and snowing. Once you park for the evening. The snow/sleet/freezing rain continues to fall on a warmer windshield. Snow and sleet turns to water, runs down to the bottom of the windshield and possibly collects around the blades...AND VOILA freezes around the blades. Depending on a few factors. You could wake up to your wipers being encased in ice. You get in, start the car, hit the wiper lever and RIIIIIIIIP, you tear the blade away from the wiper arm. Ounce of prevention, miiipilot

A few months later, I got another toy that cost me half as much with similar giggle factor. Kenne Bell GT500. Dyno tuning should yield 750whp 700wtrq on 93 octane and hopefully 850whp 800wtrq on c16 with a smaller pulley and race tune. But it doesn't have the low wide feel that the Z had.

Don't open the hood to knock the snow off while the wipers are raised like that or you will certainly crack the windsheild!

There are also times where one might not have easy access to a supply of hot water. Not to mention, pouring hot water onto freezing cold glass can crack that glass. Last edited by NYC6; 01-22-2011 at 10:56 AM.. |

Yeah, never use hot water, I use barely warm water just so I can open the door. Window freezes in place and prevents it from sliding down, so if you pour some water around the window it melts the ice and allows you to get into the car.

I don't believe he does. I've been very impressed with the Blizzaks thus far on the stock 135 rims...
