Its so easy to do it yourself. I've been meaning to install mine. If you come to long island one day, we can do the work in my driveway. I've done it before on my 328is. Donyou have the hardwire kit?

I do have the hardware kit, yes. I had it done on a Saab previously (the guy who did it moved) and it looked quite involved, that's why i was thinking about getting a professional.

Check out this link from the DIY section.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211933 I was planning on just tapping into my map lights power. But I read a good thread that if you power it from the fuse panel, you will have zero warranty issues with BMW. I think it's worth it for a little more work. I recently ordered a tool kit from griots with various plastic pry tools, made for getting into tight interior spaces without marring or scratching the materials. I'm prolly gonna donthe install next week.

Got one. Gonna run the other wire down the drivers pillar & Velcro it above the vent. My v1 is prolly 10 years old. I need yo send it in for an update.

honestly, its been done on so many different cars. my suggestion is to do a search online, and see a few installs with pics (on different cars). Then you can figure out what you need to do, and what bumps you might run into.
Its really easy, and if youve done the research & have the right tools, it shouldnt take more than an hour.

If you're going to go to the trouble, might as well add the concealed display, and get a remote mute button (cheap on ebay) to add to the backside of the turn signal; it's really a cool addition. If you do get the remote button, you'll need a two-way junction box to split the wiring at the "ACC" plug-in point for the concealed display. |

Has anyone hardwired a V1 into a 1M using the over head connection points and not the one DIY with the fuses?

I tried to tap to these wires and gave up. Went to the fuse box and it was much, much easier and the wire is completely hidden |
