New 1M exhaust coming
Guys I am in the preliminary stages of working with a company to produce an exhaust for the car. I wanted to start this thread to give everyone a heads up but I cant reveal the company (youve all heard of them) until we get the ball rolling on this project.
The reason I wanted to announce it is to get feedback for what the actual owners of the car are looking for versus spitting out another aftermarket product designed by others for us. Obviously I am looking for a quality construction with nice power gains and exhaust tone but how about aesthetically? Obviously its going to be a quad tip but at this point we can have input on tip size/shape/color/material. I figured this way we dont have to settle for what is offered to us. I know many people like the Akra CF tips but dont wanna spend the 6k, or they like the GTHaus look but not the design. This way we can maybe get a product that can fill all/most of our wants. Obviously we cant accommodate everyone and tastes are diverse but maybe there is a middle ground or something the majority would prefer. Just a heads up for now, but whatdya think? |

I agree with darker colored tips for a stealthier look. I also am not a big fan of the stock rolled exhaust tip look. Too beefy x 4. I'd prefer a reduced tip thickness a la E46.

This is exactly what I want suggestions I can take to them and incorporate into the design so us owners get a product we want/like |

Actually I like the look of the stock more than any other aftermarket option yet, however the twin dark chrome M Sport exhausts for the 135i look good for for something that's not stock to the 1M if they can be applied.

Slightly larger diameter tips...similar to Eisenmann. Colored tip option. Stainless steel is fine for me. Oh yeah, and reproduce the M3 V8 sound. The Akra valve option would be cool, but will drive up the $$.
Please don't tell me it's Flowmaster or the makers of the Cherry Bomb glass packs.

Supertrapps for the win! Hah, I don't really care what the tips look like as long as it's not 4 Cambels soup cans hanging off the back. I am looking for more free flowing, more sound, and please less weight. Will have to be under $1000 for me to be interested.

I would like just two exhaust tips, large diameter, thin metal, maybe à bit darker, definately no chrome. And a remote valve!
Prefer no exagerated tone, but moderate bass at low rpms and anything more aproaching e46ness at high revs. |

+1 for wireless remote option to toggle between loud and muffled. No need to stir up the neighborhood and cops.
Shape: like the exhaust on the M3 Track Edition: |

Is this an axleback or a full system?

Is not a Borla, did you look at my old posts and see they used my 135 for the exhaust? No more guesses.
Im assuming it will be both, this is very preliminary. Once the project is underway then we will have details. My PCD is 11/10 |

I like that M3 exhaust shape as pictured above. Although the concept of an exhaust flap is cool, I'd worry about added cost and failure over time. For example, the Audi RS4s have a system like that which are known to fail over time. Coolness becomes liability...no good.

any updates?
I also actually like big silver tips. So hopefully it'll be a axle-back system with a choice of coloured tips (black, silver, titanium), to satisfy everyone. With tips noticeably larger than stock. Stainless steel grade better than oem, as well as better than oem welds. Under $1500? Haha, dreaming now I am |

But, as I understand it, the stock tips are welded. So at what point in the exhaust system it be plug and play? Cat back? Axle back? Which would include replacing the mufflers, some pipage and tips? Any easy options for just changing out the tips I'm fine with the stock system as it is, just would prefer a darker color.
