2011 N55 manual won't select reverse

Hey guys,

Last night for some unknown reason my car wouldn't go into reverse!
Works fine in all other gears but won't select reverse at all even when the engine is off.

Looking another threads and forums it seems I'm pretty screwed.

It's a long shot but has anyone managed to fix this?

Cheers

Is it a manual, or DCT? I know when I first got my 135, N was damned hard to engage.

Manual, they are dropping the gearbox tomorrow to take a look at the linkage and see what the issue is. From what I've read I'm pretty screwed and need a gearbox

Does it grind when you try? Have you tried to double clutch, first shift into neutral, let the clutch out, then press the clutch again, and try reverse.
Have you checked the brake fluid (clutch feeds off the brake fluid)?

Hey bud yeah had the brake fluid changed on Friday and still doesn't select the gear when the car is off deffo not the clutch . Having the box dropped tomorrow so will wait and see if it's a linkage or simething . Fully prepared for a new box now though!

Really sad the aftermarket/BMW sees these transmissions as non-serviceable on the interior parts.

I'm sure if someone were to take their time to go through this with a fine tooth comb, it's probably a super cheap fix on something that multiple people seem to have replaced transmissions on.

So I thought I'd close this thread out

Gear box was taken out today and the issue is the reverse synchro, this is being repaired by a gearbox specialist - around 600 quid

Unfortunately the dual mass flywheel has also gone and I may as well replace the clutch while it's I'm in there so that's another 5 or 600 pounds

Rear diff seal was also weeping so rants getting replaced also

Finally Labour and fluids I'm looking at 1900 quid

Annoying but at least I basically have a new drivetrain lol
