2011 1m for parts or race? Opinion wanted
So I acquired a lightly water damaged 1m and because of the rarity of it im uncertain if it would be best to sell it as a track project car as a whole or just part it out, I know nothing about these lil cars besides they are rare and very desireable. Are they popular for track cars? It didn't get any water in the engine and there is zero body damage but a lot of the electronics will be fried. Any opinions?

Lol yep that's the peach. Hint of sarcasm should be noted in "lightly water damaged" as water damage is water damage and it usually ruins anything electrical. I'm surprised the engine was squeaky clean I guess they are pretty good sealed up.

Would be a very good option for building a dedicated race car.
I know a lot of teams that got their cars that were flood damaged in Louisiana. |

That's kind of what I was thinking, good to know that other people have built 1m floods into race cars!
I'm kind if uncertain how well it would part out cause of how rare it is..... |

I wouldn't think all that much. Parts are still available from BMW and can be generally sourced, no? Not sure if there's any particular part specific to the 1M that is "rare".
It would seem the car as a whole is special and rare. The individual parts individually, not really. IMHO In other words, build a race car. |

great race car project. you could rebuild it .. but I doubt that will be cost effective.. as you mentioned ... electrical issues likely will occur.....and interior bits are expensive too.

TBH, the body alone makes it a worth while racer. Factory widebody, limited slip diff, aluminum suspension bits, etc. The electrics would be the only thing that concerns me, but if it's a flat out racer, take out the luxuries and put in a Motec/standalone that's new and not soaked.

Is the car still available? I may know someone looking to build a race car.

The OP had it on eBay twice...and did report it as sold.
Here's one of the threads with his auction ad. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=869375
