The Accord coupe does have a three inch longer wheelbase when compared to the M235i.

3 inches longer to push the engine forward over in front of the front wheels. So sporty.

Three inches longer in wheelbase alone and practically the same weight as the fat little M235i.

I really want to see a M235i in person but I don't think it's going to change my opinion of it based on what I saw on the 228i in person.
I don't know why so many think the front end of the M235i is much better than the 135i. To me it gets lost in the whole generic look BMW has gone after in the recent model. No model differentiation. Also, the front end looks like a catfish to me ala the last iteration of the 4th Gen Camaro: |

I feel the e88 looks and is a modern e30. Front end a bit weak in style, I like it well enough
2r's looks dont remind me of an old beemer, they look a little like a old 97' Grand Prix and a refreshed e93. The Japanese feels seem to be first impressions but have faded once in the driver gets acclimated. BMW's-Japanese looks do have an insult to my sense of style. I dont buy a Honda/Acura based on looks, I buy an Acura based on a strong QDI that BMW fails considerably at. When renting a car on travel and get a Japanese car it never fails when dropping it off I say to myself with a chuckle well thats not German Engineered! BMW proves time and again a great car in long term, 2's no doubt will continue this tradition even with some subtle outside influence. My main reason for not having full desire for a 2series is the non-Turbo availability. I may evolve on this one but I6 normal aspirated for me thank you. |

FWIW, the M235i is set up from the factory (in terms of tires and suspension) far better than the 135i ever was. And to my eyes, the front is better-looking than that on the non-M 1'er, although the rear is rather bland.
If you see one on the road, there's no mistaking it for a Honda. |

The person who pulled up the numbers in an attempt to show the M235i is faster failed to account for how the cars are set up with tires. The OP of that thread said the cars were both run on the same tires, and that both were stock otherwise. I'm assuming that means both cars were running Michelin PSS (isn't that what comes stock on the M235i, rather than the crappy no-grip RFTs that the 135i got?). Tires make a huge difference. I would also factor a small amount to the proper tuning on the factory suspension on the M235i. It is set up properly from the factory, a fact that just illustrates how badly BMW fucked up on the suspension and tires selections for the 1er.

Another one of these threads?
I'll bite. I love the side profile of the M235 but it stops about there. Oh, and that they loaded it with PSS from the factory and sell an optional LSD.
