Shell blasting would have gotten more. There was some little places I just couldn't get into.

I believe difference should be at least like running very dirty filter vs DCI

I would have liked to see the break down process. What did you have to remove to get access to the ports? Did you only clean the exhaust ports or did you do the intake ports too?

If you search for a video on valve cleaning its the same process. Those are pics of the intake ports. Not the exhaust ports.

Crazy op was able to get them that clean with just wire brushes and brake clean. At the dealer, the walnut blaster we use sometimes has a difficult time removing that real hard carbon.

Letting the brake cleaner sit in there for a few mins helps a lot. I got the brushes in there while it was full of brake clean to.

Curious to see if having meth makes a difference. Had meth about 1-2k after this cleaning. Wondering how it will look in another 50k.

I've done walnut blastings on 5 cars here already and I can tell you if you are meticulous like I am, its gonna take more than a few minutes on each cylinder. I blast for a little bit and go at any stubborn carbon with a little hooked pick to really get everything I can. Then I'll go blast a little bit more and go back and forth until its all clean. That picture posted is by far the worst I've seen though!

That pic by dji is pretty bad. Hahaha. I had those plastic picks and wire brush to get the stubborn parts. Once I started it went quicker than I thought it would. After the first cylinder I was like man I need to speed this up. So I filled it with break clean and attached a plastic bristled pipe cleaner to the drill. Hahaha. Then stuck it in the pool of break clean and let her have it. Then sucked it all out while spraying fresh break clean and repeat until there was just a couple tough spots. Kinda felt like a dentist. Usually two to three times and that seemed to work super good.
