Hello fellow 1'ers!

I know it's a bit of a short notice.. but it's definitely better than trying to plan something over July 4th weekend.. I'm originally a former E46Fanatic and got used to an active BMW community, so I'll try my best to organize something like this on at least a quarterly basis.

For this meet, let's meet up this upcoming Saturday June 30th 2012 at 1pm at Temazcal - this is near the waterfront:

PARK & MEET at 1pm
Standard Parking - Lot D3
496 Summer St.
Boston, MA 02210

6-7min walk and away from all the closed roads and pedestrian traffic nonsense.

LUNCH at 1:30pm
Temazcal Tequila Cantina
250 Northern Ave
Boston, MA 02210

Just reply below with "IN" if you can make it. Let's send out some PM's to get people's attention too

Currently RSVP'd:

As an update, we won't be able to make a reservation at the restaurant since its a Saturday but they said the wait shouldn't be too long at all. Also, with the Tall Ship Event (http://www.bostoncentral.com/events/special/p12167.php) going on this weekend, the metered parking will be closed and there will be millions of people spectating in the area.

miula said he'll be scoping the area today after work so he should have an update for us on parking.

Worst case scenario, we can pick an easier place to meet up.

I drove by and asked around and the two major issues are going to be the crowds (even worse because it's Saturday with nice weather) and the parking. I tried talking to the parking attendants and they were no help. The open air lot is public and the hotel and world trade center can't reserve spots...

I have been to Temazcal and it's a great spot, but it can get really busy with really long waits without reservations...

Anyone have any ideas for a location, preferably with readily accessible parking???

I am going to ask around for locations and see what I can find out...

I think Temazcal and the Waterfront area can still work. I can show up earlier and hold our reservation or we can wait the 30 extra minutes for late stragglers to arrive. Besides, there are TONS of different restaurants in the area if it really is that packed.

In terms of parking, it's like a 10min walk from the Financial District. We can park over there maybe? There's got to be a way for us to reserve like 12-15 spots someway somehow. I'll put the money down or whatever.

I'll keep looking for parking; I have a couple of hours free before work tomorrow so I'll drive over there and see if I can find out more...

The only other idea I had is a Brazilian Steakhouse (read all you can eat) that I know and it has a pretty big parking lot...

I'll update tomorrow after I head over to ask about the parking...

My thoughts...

I am a huge fan of the choosen venue, but if we intent to view these fabulous vehicles, Seaport may not be the best choice due to the activities in Boston this weekend. We may want to consider a location that offers parking and save the Seaport gathering location for next time.

Are we looking for a place with food or just a nice environment to admire other 1ers (aka a parking lot)?? Lol

Just got off the phone with the General Manager of Pilgrim Parking who is located right there since I wanted to reserve 15 spaces for us on the waterfront. The guy I spoke to told me that "I've seen these tall ship events, and it doesn't get too busy in terms of parking. There's A LOT of parking spaces available in this area and all the commuters will be gone. In the Waterfront area alone, there are more then 4000 parking spaces and 3 huge garages. There's no need to make any parking reservations. You guys will be fine."

So, all we need to decide on now is which parking lot to meet up at? miula, want to see which one would work best for us?

Also, I think having the tall ship event can also be a bonus in terms of getting some cool shots. The waterfront area also has a bunch of abandoned factories, long strips of closed roads, shipping docks, etc which would make it a bit more scenic than anywhere else I was looking around.

What do you guys think?

Decent Food + Decent Drinks + Easy Parking + Semi-Scenic = Perfect

I'm in! Once the parking location is selected, that is where you will find me.

If I wasn't going to see the cars, I could have brought the Corolla and nobody would have been the wiser .

miula, can you scope out the lots and pick one that's fairly large, outdoors, and near Tamezcal?

I am not sure what the story is this weekend because of the tall ship event and some parking lots being supposedly closed; but there are two parking lots that IMHO would be ideal. One is the open air lot of the No Name restaurant a block from Temazcal but they apparently tow the cars if you are not at the restaurant and the other is the public lot two blocks down the street diagonal to Legal's; I guess the public lot would be ideal due to size and location but I don't know if it will be closed on the weekend. It would be great if we could convince the owner/attendant to reserve 15 spots but that might be impossible if its public... I drove by this morning but there was no attendant to ask and I couldn't find a number to call either...

I don't mind going a little earlier and trying to hold some spots assuming the lot is even open that day...

Any ideas???

There's an LAZ-owned outdoor parking lot the guy from Pilgram Parking said is to the left of Temazcal. I'll try calling them tomorrow (I'm having trouble finding the address for it).

Let's just name a lot for now and then if there are any changes, we'll post on here and the main thread with the exact lot. The pier is so small I'm sure none of the guys will be able to miss 10+ BMW's.

I also plan on getting there a little early, around 12:45pm to make sure we have a section of the lot just for us.

If you look at the aerial view of the area using Google Maps, you can see how many spots there are. There's TONS! And I've been there on weekends, it's usually a ghost town.
