Past experience says leatherette is more durable than leather... And leatherette requires much less maintenance than leather.

I've got the sport seats (leatherette) and they're much more secure during spirited driving... A must-have, IMO.

2008 135i Coupe and the only creak I have is the arm rest when I lean on it. Other than that the only annoying sound is my key chain rattling on the dash.

Leather wear is pretty much non-existent although I do clean it and condition it once per month even though it isn't soiled.

2009 w/ 43K miles.... Plenty of creeks in the dash, speaker covers on the doors frequently pop off, driver's seat normal wear on the leather but what annoys me the most is an annoying rattle that seems to come from the passenger rear wheel well that is made worse when I drive through rain. I recall there was a wire loom under there that was not tied down and someone posted a pic on how they took apart the back seat and taped it to the fender. But why would it be worse in the rain?

The driver's seat leather on my '08 has seen better days. Some wear is visible on the back support. In hindsight I could have done a better job maintaining it but it's holding up.

If color isn't an issue I'd highly recommend leatherette which is probably what I'll go with next time. The cute girl you pick up at the bar won't notice the difference.

MY2010 (36K miles over 3 years) and I am the first owner. I have two issues, The driver seat Coral red leather is ok but not mint condition, I guess because I am 6 1" with 210lb. and I get some rattle from the passenger side door panel..

other that that the car interior looks really really great.

My 128 is 4 years old with 101,000 km and the interior still looks brand new. No rattles or creeks (knock on wood).

My mom had an X3 for 4 years that held up just as well, same with my dad's 323i from back in the day.

As far as I have seen, BMW makes some quality interiors.

The silver trim around the iDrive knob had cracked. It was also shart and cut me once. The retaining spring on my cup holder also broke. Dealer took care of everything.

2008 128 with 56k miles. Armrest creak... Leather wear bolster and now the center of the dash creaks very very loudly... but the worse in my opinion is the scuff marks on the bottom of the door. Can't get those off. I don't understand how my 98 Ti has no scuff marks.... just sayin.

06 here, not bad! squeak from RHS a-pillar, but that's about it, and it's intermittent.

2009 135i, 60k miles, Rattle in Glovebox (BMW attempted to fix twice), rattle from rh and lh air con. ducts which they fixed without issue. The rest of the interior has held up well (terracotta leather) the only wear spot is on the RHS driver seat bolster next to the stitching. I frequently have a monitor sub speaker in the passenger seat and it has held up well to the 75 pounds of non butt weight. No weird scuffs or anything.

'08 135 Convertible, 40K miles.

No issues whatsoever with trim, dash, etc.

Only wear is in the left bolster on the driver's seat where my big butt rubs it getting in. Need bigger car or smaller butt.

Other than some minor wear on the bolster it's holding up great. No complaints.

my old 128i had taupe leatherette, no sport seats. i would wipe it down now and then, but honestly, not very often. it held up great - i even used to park outside in the sun 24/7.

i did have to watch what jeans i would wear. dark jeans + light colored seats = no go

9 months & 9k miles on my '12 135 vert.
Various creaks from time to time but not horrible and I just write it off because its a convertible.
A couple weeks ago the plastic power seat controller seems to have broken. It still works but I'm still under warranty so I'll have it fixed next time I bring the car in.
Other than that no issues.

08 135i, 47K miles. There's the occasional creak from the dash, usually when temps change, and there's the crack in the leatherette on the left side driver's seat bolster where it gets bunched up from getting in, and out of the car, which I plan to repair.
Steering wheel has the rubber paint peeling where my thumbs rest, but very minor.

Other than that, my interior looks like new.

I have the armrest squeak (have for four years now) a slight rattle from the rear passenger area and my seat bolsters are pretty heavily worn.

About standard for a BMW with 80K miles

had the car for over a year now, no problems except for occasional condensation on the inside of the windshield which can be annoying. the leatherette is fine, sport seats are a must for this car.
