Talking Did a little spirited driving this morning

I've had my 135i with 6MT for all of two weeks now and am taking it easy during break-in but couldn't resist opening it up just a little this morning on the way to work. I rolled town the windows, retracted the sunroof, turned off the air conditioning and stereo, and dabbled with the joys of 2nd and 3rd gear. Kept it between four and five grand but that was enough to plaster a sh*t eating grin all over my face. And the glorious sound of that engine... ohh, yeah, this is one special car. Engrossed in my ride, I missed the turn off to work. Could have turned around but said, work? I don't think so, and kept going until I was well out of Honolulu and half way to Hawaii Kai before better judgment got the best of me. The ride back was just as fun, this time with Grateful Dead cranked up on the HK surround system. Think I'll drive to the north shore for lunch.

Spirited driving, Honolulu, and Grateful Dead are 3 things I would think could not be more different and you, sir, combined them all into one!

I had a similar situation last week. Weather was beautiful, so top was down and took a cruise through Mulholland on a very familiar section. Enjoying the scenery when a Lambo pulled in behind me. Not wanting to spoil his fun, got on it pretty hard and traction control blinking non-stop. We backed off on the straights but pushing pretty hard through the twisties. Obviously I can't beat a Lambo but quite sure based on what I heard behind me that he was having some fun too.

Side note...when I was shopping for my 6 speed a few months ago, the dealer told me he could grab a 6mt on the way to Honolulu if I really wanted it. Don't know if that's true, but guessing it was your car. This one had no seat heaters which is a must for my better 1/2 so passed. So if no heaters in yours, must be the same car. Think it may've been red too but can't be sure.

Whatever the case, this is one fun little car!

Lambo shambo. Lol, just kidding. It'd be nice to be able to afford an exotic. Still, I'll bet you gave him something to think about.

Holy crap! If it was mine I'm glad you passed to say the least. 1ers are pretty rare to begin with out here and 6MTs are rarer still, so maybe it was my car. And here's something else: my dealership got the allocation from another dealership (I think in Cali) who owed him one. So that jives and no seat heaters as well. Mine is Alpine White, not red but other than that it sounds like it was my car. Damn, that was a close shave.

Couldn't be coincidence. When first shopping was looking at Coupes or convertibles, which is what he did the search on. White was my first pick so probably it. Sounds like we all got what we wanted I recall him saying I'd have to act quickly or the boat would be leaving with it, and glad you got it!

And out here in Socal, it's crazy how many Lambos, Ferrari's, etc there are on any given day. Someone is still making money in this economy.

You Hawaiians might have a beef with us mainlanders. I got my 09 that was on the boat at the time I bought. It was destined originally for Hawaii.

never had anything but a moped when I lived in Hawaii. I can only imagine doing the drive along the east side up to North Shore!!

Very nice...jealous I would've been pissed if you would've said, "Yeah missed the exit for the office and just happen to have my board strapped to the roof" I guess we can't complain it hit 50F in Chicago today.

Ah, hah. I'm beginning to see why we have such long wait times out here. On the other hand, we get first dibs on pineapples.

Nice. I'm there. I was actually going to upgrade to a different knob but changed my mind when my car arrived with the M-Sport knob (I have M-Sport package). But these also have that option and look better too. Definitely going to get one. I'm going to get the drilled aluminum clutch, gas, and brake pedals too.
