Angry Pool of coolant under car.

Stored the car over the winter, a perfect time to make a few mods inside the car. I added some gauges in the ashtray and finished the amp install.

One day, as I walk in front of the car I notice a pool of clear liquid coming from the front passenger side under the engine bay. Fantastic!
I check the coolant level... the coolant tank is bone dry. Awesome.

I'm pretty sure that the electric water pump is the source, maybe one of the plastic flanges broke...

Merry Christmas!

Your coolant is not a clear liquid, should be blue. Also, if the overflow tank is empty, you should have a "low coolant" light on the dash. The coolant level is correct when the small level "stick" is just above the filler neck when the coolant is cold, you probably won't be able to see the coolant itself. Filling the coolant up to the top of the overflow filler neck will cause problems with over-pressurisation of the system and expelled coolant. Clear liquid under the middle of the engine compartment is usually condensation from the air conditioning system drain (even in winter, if the air conditioning is on, as it will be drying the air).

Seems like the coolant BMW uses is nearly clear. Hard to tell under the lighting conditions. The expansion tank is completely bone dry and I do get the radiator symbol on the dash when I put the key in.
Seems like this is a first on the message board.

Garage List
Okay, there's a pool of liquid under his car and his coolant reservoir is empty...yeah I think he diagnosed it right the first time I'd replace the coolant a little at first to see how bad the leak is. Either way it sounds like it's time to use that BMW roadside assistance

Sounds about right, although I'll definitely keep an eye out for girls peeing near my car.

I'll keep you guys posted on the part that caused the problem, although it'll have to wait until spring.
