Zombie1 > That's about right -- maybe a little more. It's always a bitch to determine as there are many factors involved. Pricing on parts and/or labor (body-work, etc.)...vary vastly from city-to-city. Everyone needs to do their homework and price-out according to what's currently available online and in your area.

If you're going all the way, and money is no object...then who cares. If you're on a tight budget, then I would do it in phases (you can use my breakdown as a guide). All the parts are listed.

Note: There are some phases that you clearly don't need like the trunk/battery relocation. If you have any questions, I can help you figure it out. PM me.

Zombie1 > Almost there man. Been a slow moving process so far, but it's going to pick up rather quickly. Have a shit ton of pics just need some time.

Right now, the head is out and being built/calibrated with all the Brian Crower goodies. Engine is completely apart. We're going to be cleaning and painting the block probably this weekend.

Transmission will go out sometime next week. ATF is in my backyard so it should be a few days tops from the time I drop it off.

Once I get everything back, then we're putting it all together i.e. block, head, oil sump, pumps, pulleys, belts, etc.

Things will move faster at that point...

Id say about another 2 months. It's a marathon you know...this ain't for the faint-of-heart. I've been rockin' a POS daily driver for months, but homie -- I promise you -- when those wheels start spinning once again -> Check mate.

One small note for convertible owners who want to do the front-end conversion -- the underbody shield is different from E88 / E82, but you can unbolt the very front part of the 1M underbody shield and swap it onto your old one

here I go..

I pulled the trigger today. Ordered all the stuff to do the front (for now). Bumper, fenders, etc...

A few parts backordered out of Germany. I'm being told that they possibly won't be here until January!

If anyone else is looking to go 1M conversion; don't be in a hurry.

Hey TUN3D. Thank you very, very much for sharing your info. I've got a few questions for you if you're still hanging around this forum.

Excellent write up. Great pictures
I've taken my E88 through that. Now that I'm almost done with minor touches, I find your post..

Is it possible to get the 1M build pictures. There is a "update account to enable 3rd party hosting?" in place of the pictures?

britishgent > Sorry man, photobucket really fucked everyone. They arbitrarily changed the 3rd party hosting options meaning, you now have to pay $39.99 per month where as before it was FREE service.

I got a shit ton of images there and no time to go back and fix everything right now. Eventually I'll get around to it...but no time soon. Sorry man.

I just want to say thank you for the DIY, even without the pictures your detailed descriptions just got me out of a tough spot during my front-end conversion.

Hey TUN3D. Thank you very, very much for sharing your info. I've got a few questions for you if you're still hanging around this forum.

So, I finally received the last part I need for my conversion today. The smaller RH quarter panel was discontinued. Ended up having to buy the larger assembly that includes all the way up to the A-pillar. Been waiting since November.
Anyway, after nine months of waiting, I'm about to get started and then this! All the build threads are f'd because of photobucket. Great.

I wonder if we could con some of the guys that have done this into just dumping a bunch of photos on instagram all with a common tag. It'd be easy to just pick through them and see what's going on.

Have you guys noticed that every single 1M conversion has a larger horizontal gap between the front fenders and the side skirts ?

Did you change the side skirt support ? The little plastic stuff that bolts up to the fender. Maybe some people did, some other didn't.
Might have something to do with that cause they are different between 1M and 135i.

Part number for 1M:

02 SUPPORTING LEDGE LEFT 1 51778052517
02 SUPPORTING LEDGE RIGHT 1 51778052518

Part number for 135i:

02 SUPPORTING LEDGE LEFT 1 51777118159
02 SUPPORTING LEDGE RIGHT 1 51777118160

Found a few!

Working with my local BMW dealer, I was able to find some (from what I know of) "non-existent" part numbers. The "BF" horn brackets being the most elusive of them.
