So my car went into the shop this morning, but I've arranged other transportation. Lets just say there is no need to go early for the supercar meet because we can have our own.

just a heads up. didnt read the whole thread but for the past couple of weeks all the cars go to the old OBI lot. They charge to get into the Captree lot this time of year and OBI is free.
Its also the Jones Beach Air Show this weekend and will be a madhouse to all points west of Robert Moses.
Wish I could go but always go to the Air Show. Pics would be great. Have fun.

Thanks achtung and nyc6...i knew where captree park was, but was curious about exact location.. most probably OBI lot...got it! Shouldn't be too hard to find you all anyways.
yeah, i think they charge $10 to get into captree....
It most likely will be a brutal drive, traffic wise that is... I plan on leaving Port Jefferson at 8 to get there by 10!

Won't we be within viewing distance of the airshow or is this further out?
From what I remember last year, we did not have to pay to get into this lot, unless they're cashing in on Memorial day weekend.

Yes, sorry for not being clear. OBI = Oak Beach. It is on Ocean Parkway about a mile before Captree (and the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge) on the right had side as you head East from Jones Beach.

The Airshow is centered a couple miles West at the Jones Bch Needle. From Captree and OBI you will still get a good shot of aircraft flying around. And especially the fast movers. The Military jets including the NAVY Blue Angels are going to be flying at about 500mph. They cover alot of ground quickly and you will see them pretty good.

Depends on the time of year at Captree. They started charging a couple weeks ago and we all went to OBI. Memorial Day weekend, they're charging!

We should be able to see it. I live around 10 miles north east of jones beach and the jets frequently rattle my windows

I wish fighter planes would rattle my windows...I had to drive to Liberty State Park to see the jet formations this morning!

So OBI it is...can the locals planning on getting there early get a good enough spot so we can spot you from the road?
