The logic behind options availability?

If all 1-series Coupes run down the same production line why are certain colors and certain options (like cloth seats, sunroof delete, wheels) not available in all markets. I can't wrap my mind around that logic. If the car behind mine goes to Germany in LeMans blue, without a sunroof and cloth seats why can't mine?

Like most consumer-related decisions that seem to make no sense, it's driven by marketing.

They make it easier to produce with limited decisions. We are their biggest buyer, and we get the best pricing (by an enormous measure) than anybody else in the world. A la carte options would make things very expensive for us... I'm okay (not ecstatic) with the current situation... It would be nice to have more options, but I'll take the lower price over more options anyday.
