GPS Confirmed VBOX 180.1 MPH

First off, this thread is not for challenging purposes because it is extremely dangerous.
I'm posting this because it is just another method of showing how awesome our cars really are.
There isn't a day that goes by where I am not amazed with this car.

Having said all that, I had a chance to make some top speed runs on a closed course so I packed up my balls and went for it.
My tires are Y rated so they are rated for 185+.

For the amount of road that I had, I was able to hit 180.1, but if the road went further, I know the speed would have been higher because the speed was going up steadily all the way to 180.

Here is a screen shot of my VBOX and I did a measure just to show the maximum.

Dayum!

Man everytime I watch Top Gear UK, I always wish they get a 335i on there that they top out and drive like they stole it. Realistically they would most likely have a 335is on there, one day...

Very cool

I agree. You could have easily exceeded 180.

Curious, do you remember where your rpm was at that speed?

I don't know about "easily" exceeded 180, the wind resistances at those speeds are intense. Great job overall...you must have some large cajones doing that!

If i'm reading your graph right from a 40mph roll it took you less than a minute to reach 180mph in about a mile and a half? That's impressive!

6MT is gear/final drive limited to 195 MPH @ 7000RPM. Don't know if GIAC S2 raises the rev limiter or not, if it's raised to 7200 RPM than the car can theoretically go about 200 mph.

But.

180 = 6500RPM
188 = 6800RPM
195 = 7000RPM

http://www.wallaceracing.com/gear-speed.php

Wheel/Tire = 25.03
Final Drive = 3.08
Gear = .87

wow, Mr. 5 just keeps on impressing, you should be a BMW rep for this car haha.

I have to ask though, I see you're near me in Huntington, where do you do all your Vbox runs and testing and especially this top speed run!? I wanna sneak into El Toro marine base and run the airstrip!

I agree but I've seen stock cars do 280 km/h (174mph) on the Autobahn. Based on his added power, I assumed 180 + shouldn't be hard to achieve vs stock.

The air resistance is the key.
I think it was on top gear with the bugatti doing 250...they said that it only needed 300 hp to do 150 mph but it needed another 700 hp to do the extra 100 mph.

Was this GPS or with only the speedo?
The speedo is extremely inaccurate especially at these speeds.

What is the whole consensus with speed de-limiter and warranty. I remember some speculation that "they know".

Yes Air resistance is the key. It's not a linear relation with speed but rather exponential.

About that video I saw, I couldn't find it. I found this one though : 335Xi, 335xi, jb3 2.0, map #9, ms109, Meth,CL DP, Helix fmic, AA exhaust, DCI.

it did 300km/h based on his GPS (dunno how accurate those are compared to Vbox)

With all these mods, do you have an LSD? Sorry, I'm assuming you do, but I never see it on your mod list... Quaife?
