Wheel suggestions for my 135i

I've got a 2012 135i convertible. Black with tan interior. M sport package and the 7 sp DCT.

looking for wheel suggestions for day to day driving.

I really liked the Bayern Rapp, but they do not seem to come in an offset that will work.

I have Continental Xtreme DW 225/40/18 on front and 255/35/18 on rear.

I like Apex but have heard they are not suitable for day to day

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you think the apex wheels aren't good for daily driving?

After reading a lot of posts and looking at thier site it seems they were great for racing. I am not a wheel expert by any means.

They do seem to have the perfect fitment though.

They are one of the few reasonably priced wheels that have the proper fitment for max width tires. If your goal is 265 or 275 wide tires in the rear, they are probably your best bet.

If you are not as concerned with a real meaty wide tire, VMR has plenty of options with reasonable offsets for the rear, and most come in 19" diameters if that's your taste.

A 9.5" wide wheel with a 50offset will work reasonably well with all 245 an most 255 wide tires with no rubbing on the fender. Any lower of an offset in the rear will result in either needing a stretched tire or significant rubbing.

Appreciate the input. I am finding the the 135i fitment for whatever reason is a rare bird. I will at the VMR as well they seem to get good reviews.

Alufelgen is also a good choice, if a CSL style wheel is your thing. I said I wouldn't spend big bucks on wheels for this car, but have been lingering on the CCW wheels website lately.........

We probably have more 1 series using our wheels on the street than on the track. Although our ARC-8's are known for being very light track wheels they are also built to hold up without problems on the street. If a wheel can bang and slam off of track curbing and hold up to track G forces than it is usually fine on the street. We do recommend using a 235/40/18 front tire and a 265/35/18 rear tire since anything less will give the tire's sidewall stretch on the wheel widths we have spec'd for the 1 series. Below are a few street cars using our ARC-8's and EC-7's.

Apex ARC-8's in the Hyper Black finish in 18x8.5" ET45 and 18x9.5" ET62 with a 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 Michelin PS2 tires

Apex EC-7's in the Anthracite finish in 18x8.5" ET45 and 18x9.5" ET58 with a 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires

I have Apex ARC-8s with 235/265 tires for track and Apex AERO-7s with 225/255 tires for street.

You can see what AERO-7s look like in these threads:

I would have full confidence buying Apex wheels for a street car. Them being track proven only makes them better for any condition on street.

I like the look of many of the VMR's but for only a little bit more you can get a lot more wheel with Apex.

I've been running the Apex wheels for a year now, and I couldn't be happier.

I fit 245/265 PSS tires, the car handles and looks awesome. Apex wheels are very light, look good, and the prices are good too.

Hmm good question. Had Audis most of my life specifically S4s. The 2010 S4 is a bit more refined than the 1. And the quattro is cool. Had mine modded by AWE in Philly and it was pushing 400+ at the wheels. I would say I like the potential of the 1 and what can be done to it. Pound for pound the 1 is the best sports ar I've owned.

Did you have to roll your fender to fit the 245/265 setup?

On my car, which has the PSS 245/265 setup with Apex wheels, no fender rolling. I do have a bit of negative camber dialed in, but tire wear seems to still be even, and no rubbing ever. The rear of my car sits pretty darn low as well.

The 245/35/18 front tire is a little bit wider than our 235/40/18 suggestion and would either need fender rolling or more negative camber to guarantee not rubbing. A 265/35/18 tire in the rear of a 1 series with our ARC-8 and EC-7 wheels is an easy, direct fitment.
