M3 is Dead!
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861141
So there you go. No more E30, E36, E46 or even E92. Soon no more E82. Embrace your future with BMW of plug-ins, turbo engines and numbed up/dumbed down disposable cars. And consider taking care of whatever you have now because you probably won't see the likes of it again. |

So many articles like this. People crying bmw is changing for the worse and people reposting congratulating themselves on their current cars. Not saying I disagree, just sort of getting tired of reading it. Im anxiously waiting to see what the future holds with the next batch of cars.

@ $83,000 for a M3 I can think of a lot better choices than a 128i and a E30 M3. Although if naturally aspirated engines are important to you and you wanted to stay in the BMW family of cars then I think its pretty good.

I think its funny how many people think that the M3 is actually gone forever and dony realize its just the end of the E92.

These cars will have to survive for another 25-50 years before they might see any value among the collectors, if ever - 1M is pretty close though.

People tend to confuse personal value with cash value a lot of times. Even if our cars are the 'last' there are a lot of them in the market and will continue to be for a long time. The exception as you noted, will likely be the 1M due to its limited production. |

I know. All that low-end torque, efficiency and tuning capability. Dark days for BMW are coming our way for sure.

Seriously, I understand it gets old for people to go on and on about cars that are not even out yet, but based upon what has happened to the current 3 series I for one am concerned about "the ultimate driving machine" becoming the ultimate "riding without driver input machine." First time I drove an "F" chassis I thought this feels like a Mercedes, or Lexus for that matter, not a BMW. I get it that BMW's main market doesn't notice or care about most of these things, but for the love of humanity I hope the M cars dont get watered down! Alright rant over

Well that's just it in a nutshell right now. It's all just rumors. Naysaying and doom and gloom is all speculation. We just need to wait and see what will actually be done with the F chassis M cars. I'm excited! Worried but excited.

Just because the M3 is going away doesn't mean there won't be something coming out that will be better than it.
Things change for a reason and I'm glad to see it. People get to caught in the moment and need to see there is something better coming. I'm sure people were skeptical when we changed from engines with carburetor(s) to EFI engines. The "purist" can bitch all they want but it won't change anything. |

Certainly all rumors at this point and reading my post I sound like a real negative minded d!k head
I have no doubt that the new M4 | M3 will be a beast of a car and will drive nothing like the F chassis cars already available, but there is a reason so many enthusiast love the E82. Its drives and has the character of what made BMW's from the 80's- early 90's so special. Light, great handling, precise steering, and a general attitude of the driver and road being one. A 2013 238i loaner I had just felt so......Un-BMW (if that makes sense) that I could not believe it. good little motor for a base car (2.0 T) but all the gadgetry and eco | sport modes for suspension and steering wreak of Mercedes and Lexus. Nothing wrong with that but not for me. Another small note of the 4 series coupe in roundel a few issues back, I noticed the headlight rings appear to be an hexagon or octagon and not round. WTF!!! Turbo is awesome and I love it in my 135 but its a sad thought that we likely wont see anything NA in the future. Yet some guy in a Haundai or nissan can get 300+ hp naturally aspirated and nothing from Munich?? We dont buy these cars for engines only its the overall experience of chassis, suspension, steering, and motor and so all these are important. Personally I'd rather have a 300hp NA motor in a hydraulic steering "fixed" ratio suspension BMW than 4xx hp turbo with adjustable systems for steer | suspension by any manufacture be it a Kia, BMW, or Ferarri for that matter. Clearly this is my jaded opinon (i was literally almost born on the passenger seat of hena red 5 series alpina!) and not one shared among the many folks who will by new BMW's Change is hard to accept no doubt and I'm sure all the new gen cars will be great, but I really don't know that I will ever by a BMW MY over 2011.
