interested to hear how you mounted the original seatbelt. You mounted this directly on the floor below the chair or to the chair itself?

My next update.

The new wheels have arrived.

These are the BMW GT4 Race wheels. I went for 9.5J x 18 all-round ET25.

The rear needs a special 15mm Motorsport spacer. Front needs also a special motosport spacer but i don t want the wheels to be any wider so around the hub i made a new center ring for the wheel. front goes 12 mm wider then original and rear about 10mm.

I was on track yesterday. The car is great on track. It was still on original suspension but that wil be changed shortly.

And the oil temps stayed a bit lower with the castrol edge ll04 oil 0W40. In compare to the 5W30. My temps stayed at 120 degree. With the 0W30 it goes easy over the 120 degrees.

Next upgrade is some better suspension.

I wanted something i can use everyday. When i am driving a race car. The suspension settings have manny settings. Rebound, bump, fast rebound etc. For a road/trackday car this is to much. I wanted something which is easy to adjust for road and track. I also wanted to use original top mounts which has no rattling when driving.

I found such setup at JRZ suspensions. They made the perfect set for me.

The springs they use are from eibach. They are the springs from the eibach pro kit which can be used for original shocks also. I know you think that s way to soft. No it s not. The damper can be adjusted in such way that you can make it very hard if you wish. If you use a hard spring it s always there also when you want it soft if you wish any comfort. So that s not perfect. JRZ Eibach combination is perfect.

Why not race springs you think? That s nice for a track day car only. But then again you need to use other top mounts and you have less clearance on the strut side because you spring will sit lower. So now there is more clearance for wider wheels because the spring stays above the tire.

Also the front shocks use the original stabi mountings and keep the spring on place. Also a big plus for comfort it s tested by bmw M so why not use it also for the front shocks.

Front shocks.

The rear shocks and springs are also perfect combination. The car sits perfect on its wheels. No extra adjustments are necessary just mount and its done.

Then driving on track. The dampers have 22 clicks from soft to hard. If you are on very flat track setting 21 or 22 is perfect the car is planted and gives a lot of front end grip. If you're track is more bumpy you can easily go lower in setting the car wil still feel racy but it wil absorb bumps better. All is done in 30 seconds of time and you're off again. On the end of day i have put every thing on setting 1 and drove in sporty comfort home. I am very very happy with my setup. I can recommend this JRZ setup to everyone who is in search for a nice road and track setup.

The original dampers are feeling very hard but driven on track they are way to soft. JRZ have more comfort in setting 1 then original. But in setting 21 / 22 you can be track day junkie in no time.

The price over here is about 2250 euro s for the JRZ suspension. That s not expensive for such a good set of dampers. For usa, contact dealers. I don t know the price there.

Nice! I am actually looking into upgrading my current coilovers on my E46 M3 to JRZs.

Are these the new JRZ RS1 dampers? The one-way adjustable?

In the future, if you want to switch to a coilover setup, will the be able to be converted to that as well?

Advevo -

Because my purchase of the JRZ RS dampers just fell through, these RS1s have become more interesting.

Since they're using the stock spring perch/sway bar link, is it height adjustable?

Also, my understanding is that the Eibach Pro Kit uses a progressive spring with very similar rates to stock and that the only significant difference is that they're a bit shorter. Is this also your understanding?

Finally, it looks like you're using the stock strut mount. Wouldn't you want something that allows you to adjust camber?

Thanks.

No it s not height adjustable but as you can see on the picture the car is lowered just perfect. I did not want a low rider. Just filling up the wheel gap.

yes the eibach pro kit is a bit shorter. The car is lowered enough. Springs are little bit harder then original. You can adjust the dampers if you want to ride hard. It s better to do that by adjusting the damper then the springs. So you can keep some comfort.

No i don t need more camber.

You can go with original top mounts i think about 1.2 degrees camber. For me enough.

I got -1.8 (or -1.9) with the original topmounts and the KW V3. So more then enough for UHP tires

I got a laugh from the first 30 seconds on what appears to be cold tires. Reminds me of putting the whip to a stubborn horse.
