Was back at the Glen yesterday, here's some better in car videos. I love how the exhaust sounds but I'm definitely over the dB limit for Lime Rock so I may have to swap for something slightly quieter.

Solid driving. Your inputs are awesome.

Can you do a turn-down and be legal for Lime Rock?

Thanks man, this actually was few seconds off pace from my best lap time but it was the first time I got open/clean laps and I was then starting to get into a groove before the checkered flag was dropped.

I honestly don't think it'll be enough to get be below 89dB. But I love how the exhaust sounds so wondering how may days I realistically plan to do at LRP. There's another muffler (one model "up" that's supposedly quieter, same flow and if anything slightly deeper in tone) that I might try out. I will admit though, the only downside to the current muffler is for the long drives to/from track... it can get a little tiring. Driving around town or short 25 min sessions is no big deal but cruising for 4+ hours can get a little annoying.

On a side note, the TCK DA's were truly awesome... didn't even have to set the rebound too high and the car felt tight through the turns.

Interesting you say that. There was sound at the ProSolo and I blew a 87 dB high. The location wasn't the greatest because it didn't catch the car at full WOT at high RPM (more like mid RPM WOT) but that reading is at 50'

I can see how the exhaust can get annoying. With my seats down I get annoyed with mine but I have so much crap in the trunk when I travel with seats down it does a decent job at dampening

Good to hear the positive results on the DAs. Honestly if I need to crank rebound past half way it's either a crappy lot/site or I suck a driving. The shocks have a ton of rebound adjustment it seems.

Yea for LRP, the trick is to short shift coming onto main straight or lift throttle lol.

I know Flowmaster isn't popular among the BMW crowd but I really like their stuff. I first took a look at their stuff after seeing Vorshlag install them on their project cars. But here's an overview of their different offerings. I currently have the Delta 40 (right side of the aggressive scale) but am considering moving to the right to something more like the Delta 50 (middle of mild).

Yea I mean when it comes down to it a muffler is a muffler for the most part. I have no issues with them.

I don't run a muffler now, but sooner or later I'm going to cut out the resonator and throw a muffler in place and reduce exhaust pipe to dump mid car.

Have you tried 2 mufflers in series? I know a couple E36s use 2 Burns Stainless Steel race mufflers to keep noise down. Don't know if you can fit that in your routing

I'm currently running a Vibrant resonator in between the headers and muffler. The Burns race muffler is nice but it's super expensive. Flowmaster actually makes something similar for much less (I swear I don't work for them). But I would go that route if spacing wasn't an issue.

If you remember, the Z4 has rear cross bars. Right now, I have about 1" clearance between my 4" oval muffler and those bars (that's with even a 1/2" metal spacer). When the exhaust heats up the clearance is even less but those bullet style mufflers (6" diameter) would definitely come in contact.

I do have a Burns Y-adapter that I picked up from Axiom and it was worth every penny.

Oh, I know they aren't cheap. You're at least $250 a muffler.

I still own mine Just haven't been underneath there much.

Gotcha, makes sense.

I register 91 dB at 50'

don't want to thread whore, but here's mind for comparison. Mic left and right located above respective taillights.

Don't mind it, it's good reference.

Per your video, Harry's timer indicates 252hp - any change from before the exhaust?

That number reads whatever I tell it as max hp, not a real indicator of power being put down.

3002, you have been to summit point? How fast do you get on that front straight? I noticed at NJMP you're at like ~125

Haven't been to Summit since April '14, think my best time was 1:27. This is the only video I can find but I think I hit 128-129. I actually recall I was having issues with my suspension then (badly worn RTABS - you'll notice every time I let my right hand off the wheel to shift the car starts pulling lol).

Gotcha, I was trying to do a little comparison of our cars' power/speed. On one of my first events ever, I was hitting into the 120s on NJMP front straigt, which is what you were doing and I know you're more experienced. But at Summit Point I was only hitting up to 115 or so and you're close to 130.

115mph seems way too low for Summut Main, were you on one of the other tracks? How are you capturing your speed? Looking at the speedometer won't be accurate at those speeds.

115 mph is pretty slow for the front straight at Summit, that's Miata/E30 territory. I hit 123-125 mph in my E36 M3 (208 rwhp, 3185 lbs).

Well, I am a novice driver, and was also backing off on speed since I am not super confident on braking distances. The car could go much faster. Speed was captured via my instructor's phone app.

3002 tii ,

Do you have a pic of your exhaust layout? I'm going to try and re-work my exhaust and custom fab something for me this winter and trying to plan out.
