Let me know how you go.....I measured them up also and they do stick out way to far.....

Thanks

Yes, but according to the guys at Tirerack, 9 inch rear with 40 offset sticks out and will rub. This is why I am so keen to see Blacky's set up when he puts them on!

Way, have a look at the Oz Australia Website. They say they suit the 1 series E87. I assume this would be similar to E82 coupe.

The site is at:
http://www.ozracing.com/at-team/whee...ose-a-wheel/en

This is the result for ultraleggera

Jeff, in 40 offset? Interesting...

jcw: the maker claims they stick out 7mm more, which is rubbish. Just the fronts are out 17mm more, would look a bit too silly. My hunt for gunmetal E92 M3 wheels contuines , these ebay ones with the 34/37 offset won't work nicely.

It depends on the tyres you use not just the wheels. So if you use the same tyre as the stock tyres the results are as follows:

Front 8" with 40 offset - The edge of the new tyre will be 9mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 9mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

Rear 8" or 9" with 40 offset - The edge of the new tyre will be 12mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 12mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

If the tyres are upgraded one size, 225 Fronts and 255 rears the result would be

Front 8" with 40 offset - The edge of the new tyre will be 4mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 14mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

Rear 8" or 9" with 40 offset - The edge of the new tyre will be 7mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 17mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

Use the calculator on the following page
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html

Can anyone that has their car measure the tyre clearance from the inside and outside for the current stock tyres.

Yeah, I used a calc for my results. The offsets are 34/37, so 40 would be ok and 45 would be ideal. These 34/37 is just too wide for the 1er using those E92 M3 replica wheels..

Kris, those offset will give the following results with the standard tyres.

Front - The edge of the new tyre will be 15mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 15mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

Rear - The edge of the new tyre will be 15mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 15mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

15mm shouldn't be too bad however, I'm not sure how close the existing setup is to the bodywork.

excuse my ignorance, but if i just want to put wider tyres on with stock 18" wheels (208M), do i need to worry about offsets?

You can put 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 on without a drama

Kris on the following page there is an ideal rim width calculator

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html

This indicates that the standard tyres will fit on the following size rims

front 215 - 7" to 8.5"
Rear 245 - 8" to 9.5"

Kris

Were you able to check the clearances of the standard wheel/tyre setup?

You can Jeff. Its just a case of getting the RIGHT offset. The car will take 18x9.5s in the rear no dramas at all.

What do you guys think of these wheels. I think they may fit.

18 x 8.5” 40mm Front
18 x 9.5” 45mm Rear

With the following tyres:

Rear - 255/35/18 - The edge of the new tyre will be 2mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 12mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

Front- 225/40/18 - The edge of the new tyre will be 4mm further away from the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 14mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

The supplier was even willing to machine the hub to increase the offsets.

I'm a bit confused regarding the OZ Ultraleggera, are they available in Australia for BMW's or not.

Rang YHI yesterday the Australian Distributor of Oz Wheels. They advised that the Oz Ultraleggera are not available for BMW's as 5x120 stud fitment is not available in Australia.
I told them that th OZaustralia web site www.ozaustralia.com.au indiates that they are available. The person from YHI told me that they are the Australian disbributor and they were not available. I asked him to have a look at the ozaustralia web site. He was a bit suprised as it wasn't their website and therefore someone else must be importing oz wheels

I rang ozaustralia and they quoted a price of $1,034 per wheel. At this price I would import them myself just like Blacky did.

At this stage I'm still deciding between the Black CSL's in the above post or the Ultraleggera's. Just not yet sure about the look of the ultraleggera. I saw them the other day on a Golf and I wasn't too impressed. See attached pictures. I would like to actually see them on a black 135i.

Don't F*&K around with the local guys, just import from Tire Rack.
Simple your order / pay and they get delivered within a week.
If you want to be even more of a tight ass like me you could import the tires as well!
Sorry for the delays but if I can get enthused I will fit the wheels some time this week and post some photos.
