Pretty Quiet Around Here......
Hmmm..... don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but has anyone else noticed it's gotten pretty quiet around this forum lately... ever since the 1addicts/ bimmerpost merge?
Or is this just a natural quieting down after the initial excitement of release? |

Haven't noticed really. But then I've been preoccupied lately and haven't checked in at 1addicts for a while. I finally sold my MINI on Australia Day, then promptly bought an old MX-5 to use as a track car, and have been busy getting it set up for my first clubsprint later this month! Six months since my last track day and I'm getting the shakes from withdrawal symptoms. It's a hoot to drive on the road, so I can't wait for Wakefield Park!

Yep, it's quiet. I do think it has to do with the fact that a lot of us have had our cars for about 8 months now and have already discussed a lot of ins and outs, mods, posted pics, etc and now it's simply ongoing updates (if any) that get discussed. There's a lot of great info in this Aussie forum for the new guys to read and chances are, if they're questioning it, we've already answered it somewhere, hence the slow postings...

I must admit that I'm not checking as much lately, but that's really got to do with the bushfire situation in Vic and (let's not forget) NSW. As far as the merger goes, I don't think it's got too much to do with it, but more a physchological excuse.

And the December/January period for me is the busiest time of year for my business, hence I have had little time to spare..
Have only driven my car 3 days in the past 21... |

I agree with you that the forums have slowed down and I think it's a range of factors including the fact that the 135i has been out for some time now and they hype is slowing down, members on this forum have had their car for a while and new members are coming through, I've also noticed quite a number of people selling their beloved 1 series for a range of reasons and last but not least, a number of topics of interest have already been discussed thoroughly. On a side note though, I sometimes don't mind seeing new members posting threads that have already been answered because the people in this forum are always so friendly and willing to help out. Also I think that in time the answers to threads may become outdated too especially as newer parts are released and as we learn more about the 1 series.

I think it is more to do with the fact that the owners have had the cars for a while now and the hype of waiting for the delivery after purchase, then the delivery and initial teething problems, these have all worn down now to a point there is not too much to talk about. The ones who modify have stuff to talk about and there projects continue the journey, but in the main, they become the norm and life goes on.
I still love them though, talk about them most days, new projects are being done, more booked for future months, new products are being produced for 135i and 125i, so still exciting to me. |
