Replacing OEM Airbox

Hi guys, i got my car second and and it came with dual open cones. Gives the car a nice whooshing sound but i can't help think that its sucking in hot air, so I'm trying to replace the OEM air filter box.

Dismantling the cone filters is a piece of cake.

Ive removed the front cowl housing, as well as released the inlet tube.

The part where I'm stuck at is putting back the OEM box. I know there are mounts to sit them on, but i can't seem to reach and connect the back intake tube. It just appears to be so far in, and there is absolutely no angle for me to reach in and connect them together, let alone tighten the clamps.

Do i need to remove any other part of the bay, so that i can get access?

Installing aftermarket parts takes 5mins, but putting back the original seems pretty tough!

Thanks guys

Did you disconnect this tray and pull it forward? You won't have to disconnect any wires, just unhook the whole tray and move it.

I think when I did it I actually attached the intake pipe on the back before I set the whole intake into place.

Rocketpop, thanks. Yes i did that. I still cant seem to be able to reach the inner intake. The hose from that end is really short.

I also unclipped the hose so i could move it around. It seems like i have to remove the top 'cowl' ?

How much leeway does that tray have? It only gives me an additional inch or two to move the air box in, but theres still no way i can reach in to clamp on the inner hose.

I don't recall. I had to replace the OEM air-box several times while under warranty. I never had that much of an issue. Maybe something happen before and the hose is now shorter then originally.

Check this:

Look at the photos on page 5 and 6. Should be that simple...

Thanks Rocketpop, that link was helpful!. I'll compare the lengths of the intake tubes with mine. I hope it wasn't cut off for some reason.

okay so bringing it back from the dead but what is that black line that goes over the filter closest to the front? I found a leak on it and wanted to see what exactly it goes to and from?
