KW v3 suspension - m3 vs 1m
Hey guys,
I'm pretty sure this topic has been covered before.. But I searched but couldn't find it. My apologies if it's a repeated topic. Is there a difference between the KW V3's for the m3's and the 1m's? I'm getting mixed answers between different vendors and people I've spoken to. I also talked to the representative at KW, and he told me that they are different system over all.. But it seemed like he was just basing this off of the different part number and didn't really know whether they are the same or not. So, I've heard the following 3 answers. 1) They are identical, but m3 has stiffer spring rate. 2) They are identical, but you'll need to modify the bump stops in order for them to fit in the 1m. 3) They are completely different suspensions overall. What is right? Thanks! |

I have the KWv3 for the 1M. I thought the difference was spring rates and I think that's the only difference. Other than that, I believe the kits are identical.
Here's something to take note of. The KWv3 show different part numbers between the two cars, HOWEVER, the clubsport model shows the same number for both models.

Hey, I have a 1M that I put an E92 spec KW V3 on and it works/fits great. Added Vorshlags, H&R swaybars, bushes etc etc. Base set up can be found here;
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808530 then ask this chap perhaps http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=566275 I then corner balanced the car, its a daily and I'm happy with the handling, I'm running around 2.2 deg neg camber at the front. |

The 1M OEM struts/shocks have M3 partnumbers on them. I had the V3 stuffed into the strut and shock housings, retaining the original springs (per SCCA rules for autocross).
