Coilovers and strut brace combo
Hi all
I'm currently looking into coilover options and just realised that the factory strut brace on the 135i will likely be in the way of any coilovers with damper adjustment knobs. For those with coilovers do they clear the stock brace or have you had to remove it? I would prefer to leave the factory brace if there are any ways to get around the issue? Any rigidity issues removing the factory brace?

Cheaper option is to just use some spacers (washers) on the OEM bar mounting point. |

I just came across this thread with all the part numbers for the 1M brace retrofit. I'm curious whether the plastic dust cover can still fit on with a damper adjustment knob underneath? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=968557 This must be the modified M3 brace that HPA sell: http://www.hpashop.com/BMW-128i-135i...tbrace-e82.htm

it's really not that bad with the standard bar. unbolt both sides. take cap off the middle to access the centre bolt loosen centre bolt (no need to remove it)
at this point you can now move the bars to the side enough to give you access to the adjustment. total of 5mins tops all up to undo and move the bar, put it back in position and tighten it all up when your done. I'd recommended not forking out for the m3 bar straight away try with the standard bar if it really bugs you to undo it then upgrade to the m3 bar. |
