GIAC Offers Tuning Solutions for your 1M!

GIAC continues to develop tuning improvements for the new 1M. The current product line offers the finest software, available in two stages.

Stage 1 (+61 HP and 32 LB. FT. on 100 Octane)

Released in January 2012, GIAC's stage 1 software is designed for cars that are either stock or utilizing simple bolt-on modifications (intake or catback exhaust). While the 1M is already aggressively tuned from the factory, GIAC is able to raise the power level to another level, measuring peak gains of 61 horsepower and 32 lb. ft. of torque on 100 octane. On 91 octane, GIAC measured gains of 43 horsepower and 21 lb. ft. of torque.

Stage 2 (+96 HP and 75 LB. FT. on 100 Octane)

Released in April 2012, GIAC's stage 2 software is designed for cars with further supporting modifications such as intake, turboback exhaust and intercoolers. This stage is also compatible with cars utilizing the factory downpipes. On 100 octane, GIAC's in-house Mustang dyno measured peak gains of 96 horsepower and 75 lb. ft. of torque. Using 91 octane, these numbers measure at an astounding 77 horsepower and 40 lb. ft. of torque!

I am here to answer all or your 1M tuning questions. Feel free to contact me by email or PM. I am in and out of the office, so please be patient with response times.

The graphs look awfully linear! Care to comment on the feel of the tune? I love the stock feel, would love that linear feel with more power. Had giac on my last car and it was perfect.

Impressive numbers. Is there a correction factor on those graphs? How much for the stage 2 tune?

Impressive numbers!!! How much does it cost and do you have to send in your computer to get it flashed? How easy would it be to revert back to stock? Do you have the AFR charts to show how rich or lean this tune is compared to stock?

MSRP is $1000.00 for the stage 2 pump calibration.

Our Mustang dyno has a weather station that will correct for weather variance, but that typically accounts for no more than 1-2whp variances on forced induction vehicles. We use load for all dyno tests based on HP@50 and weight specs from Mustang.

MSRP is $900 for Stage 1 and $1000 for Stage 2. The flash is done through the OBDII port, so you simply need to take the car to your nearest GIAC dealer and have them perform the flash for you.

In terms of reversion to stock, we have a stock mode option that let's you switch back to stock performance levels (GIAC code is still in the DME, but everything reverts back to stock code). If you wish to be flashed back to a 100% stock file, that would need to be done by the GIAC dealer.

All of our requested lambda targets are richer than stock, with a completely different shape. We can discuss numbers privately, but for competitive reasons, we are not keen to openly sharing actual calibration data like that here on the forums. I can assure you that our targets are more than safe, though. Our racing history with these calibrations will back that up.

Do you by any chance have a dealer in Chile?

Especially with those prices! Good God, you US guys are lucky when it comes to alternatives in anything and everything about cars (and in most of other things as well).

Great numbers but powerbeast i think the Evolve has the tune to get, corrected number from a dynojet to a mustang and on 93 octane i did 375whp, 421wtq. There race gas numbers look very impressive though. Mated with meth it would be very impressive

Txt me when you're up for it. I can get Jeff to come out as well most likely with his downpipes, Jb4, intercooler. But we would need to uhm find a secluded area since most of us are running straight pipes lol.

Does the M button still change the throttle mapping with the tune? Is the mapping linear or like the stock throttle mapping?

How do you figure? The numbers posted by GIAC are at the wheel. I believe the Evolve numbers you're referencing are at the flywheel.
http://www.evolvetuning.us/bmw/1-ser...-ecu-tune.html

The bottom line is Evolve's tune produces a 20-25 HP increase at the wheel and GIAC' stage I produces over 40 HP. You do the math.

What!? Vow, I will call them definitely. In the meantime, could you tell us about the M button function and overboost, do they remain like the stock?
