I just bought one this week and have yet to really test it out. It seems very well designed and extremely well built. I have yet to read a bad review on the detector's abilities. The remote display seems like a must have, it is tiny and will look great mounted right below my speedo on my brand new black BMW 135i.

In my experience, Radar/Laser jammers do not work. The only ones that have ever been effective worked at such a short distance away from the cop car, that you would be screwed any way.

I have an Escort 9500i and it rocks.

A nice coating of VEIL over the headlights and license plate will assist the jammers in giving you 5-7 seconds to slow down before the laser "punches through".

Not true, the guys at radardetector.net have done some extensive testing in this area. Site is run by an ex-cop, check it out.

As in every Bimmer I will be hardwiring. And as in every Bimmer I will simply tap power in the fuse box from an ACC circuit that is powered when the key is on.

All you need are spade lugs from Radio Shack and slide them into an unused socket in the fuse box.

I have Radar Detector and Sattlilte receiver wired this way.

I have owned a V1 for 8 years and will never go to another radar detector again. It's all about the arrows and analog volume control. While others are looking front, back and to the side to find the fuzz, you already know where to focus and how to react...

I'm sure once the car hits the streets someone will put out a DIY for hardwiring the V1 to the car. I have placed the V1 to the right of my visor and left of the rearview, just below the tinted top strip on the windshield and run power from the light dome on the ceiling.

Better this http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=100542 where the V1 frankly loses to a comparably priced portable unit.

IMO, the Bell RX65 PRO is the best radar you can buy.

The rave with the V1 is the arrows and that it was popular because it was the most expensive back in the day.

I remember reading and researching for over a month, and I bought the Bell and STILL think its better than any radar on the market.

Its also upgradeable. I have 1 ticket, and after I got the ticket I bought the detector and after having it in (3) of my vehicles that are loud & fast I NEVER got pulled over. And yes, I can garentee I drive more spirited than 90% of drivers on the road because I am 20 and LOVE driving

Its in your windshield.... Just take it off and throw it on the floor in the back seat. I dont have my hardwired on my S4 yet but when im in areas that I dont think are that safe I take it off my windshield and leave it in my cup holder
