Ahhh, I really wanna join in but I can't tonight (or any other Wednesday night for that matter ) - does anybody know when the next Sunday drags event will be?

edit: according to this (http://www.sydneydragway.com.au/?m=e...nt_page&id=125) the next sunday drag day wil be held on 24/06, which is an ideal date for me. If you're interested in pairing up on the day, let me know

An interesting night. 4 people showed and I let them chime in with their results. It was very slow and I only got 3 runs in despite being there at 5pm.

It's 20 something years since i last raced and i was nervous and made a mess of my first run. And I seemed massively fail at the burnouts and couldn't avoid the water which was a factor.

Car - 09 135i convertible, 7 month old pzeros, 1/4tank 98 octane, procede in map 2 autotune. No other mods.

So in order of appearance:
13.488@106.96, 2.23@60ft - Dreadful launch, wheelspin kick down into 1st, let it change gears itself.

13.699@ 106.7, 2.592@60ft - 1st gear launch. Felt good. Changed at 6000rpm which is too low

13.103@108.45,2.143@60ft - 2nd gear launch. Damp tyres, probably could have boosted it more on the start for a harder launch

I reckon a high 12 is in the making with time and practice. Beyond that we need to start bolting on stuff.

The hardest part is that I'm so used to hearing what's going on with the roof down. helmet on, roof up, windows up. Ruddy great big v8s everywhere, no idea if I was doing a burnout or not. Crazy stuff.

Great to meet you tonight Byron. Had a great night. You did well especially that last run. No luck with numbers on by behalf but i was consistant. Had three runs.

1st was 12.26 @115.27mph
2nd was 12.20 @115.06mph
3rd was 12.09 @113.30mph

Boost shit itself on my last run towards the top of 3rd gear. This should have been another 11 second pass @115

Drove all the way home with a terrible misfire in cylinder 2 with reduced power/CEL at 50klm/hour. All sorted now. Lucky I had an extra coil pack

Nice runs! We should have a run next time if we're both there together. I think it would be close

Any mods? I think you said it was your first time out? I found it very frantic and unless you stage last it's hard to find time to get your mind set.

I did do dynolicious on the first run but it showed me to be a second slower than reality. I didn't do it on the 2nd/3rd since it was another distraction.

It makes me tempted to tweak further, but I do have an old project that will be a lot faster so I should waste my money/time on that instead. Plus I see all the work Edwin puts into his.

Good stuff guys. Those times are looking impressive, and better times are just around the corner - 11s for JB4 and 12s for choppedliver.

Ok cool. Will PM you closer to the date.

I'll be aiming for low 13s for my first time out, haha. I found a great 3k launch point last weekend at the skid pan... keen to try it down the 1/4 mile.

LOL, that's cheating. I only took out the baby seats since I was concerned I'd fail scrutineering.

Probably when we get the next dry day/night. I think there's Sundays starting in June sometime that a few people were interested in.

I'm keen to crack a 12 and I think the key is actually being able to do a proper burnout so the tyres aren't as wet.

For street radials you just want a very quick spin of the tyres to flick off any water/debris.

yeah i think that was one of my problems as well.. first run I wasnt sitting in the
water and second run I did, which caused my wheel to spin heaps

Likewise.
Luckily it was an easy fix. Managed 5 hours sleep then up at 5:30am to race at Wakefield with Pavo.

Mid 11's Not at my race weight with these stock turbo's. Although I do have a special setup that Terry has emailed me that I think could buy me 0.2-0.3 seconds but unless I have a set of spare turbo's sitting on the work bench I'm not game enough to try it (and it's not only boost related). That's how those US guys get amazing times on stock turbo's.

I'm always ready for WSID. As long as we can get a few of us out there.

I don't think I even achieved that. The procede has limited traction control and i've never really tried to do a static wheelspin/burnout. Part of the reason I think I can launch harder is that JB4135 was getting sub 2.0 60' times on brand new tyres. My tyres are a touch older, but I think I should have about the same grip and therefore a more aggresive launch should be achievable and get me better times. All that extra power he has comes into play down the track, the start is traction limited.

I reckon this will get me into the 12's.
