Since the vehicle I'm comparing this to is a Cayman - I'm looking at the 135i only. A price of $35K undercuts the Porsche significantly - plus European delivery is a discount with BMW and an added cost with Porsche.
(For the record, I'm an OF and I have been a good boy the last few years, according to SWMBO - She Who Must Be Obeyed - so the purchase of a suitable 'hot rod' has cleared the first 'finance committee' hurdle. ; -) |

Final decision for me will be influenced by price. But for now I'm thinking:
128i M Sport Sapphire black exterior cloth/black leather combination interior brushed aluminium trim 6-speed manual gearbox If the price for this package gets too close to the 135i, then I'd probably go for that....

What's the deal with European delivery anyway? Don't you still have to get it on a boat? :iono:

I'm currently in a justing looking stage. I see my 1 series purchase being a CPO 2011 128i (with extended warranty) in around 2014 or 2015. Hopefully, that will be a nice way to celebrate getting tenure. At this point, I still have about two years to go to finish with my dissertation.

In the spirit of fun - why European delivery
Yup - it's going to be on the boat regardless - but between the time you pick the car up and get it to the dock here's some of the things you can do with it:
- Neuschwanstein (SWMBO needs to be placated a bit ; -) - Weiss Asparagus - Oh and this: Nuerburgring - The Romantic Road (not romance but Roman ; -) Somewhere in there is the old Roman wall, Limes (pronounced 'leems') (is that old Roman still there? - sorry) - Seefeld and Innsbruck - and if you're in Basel, Switzerland - take the A35 out to the A36 and spend some time with the Schlumpfs Other than that (oh and the STINKING INCREDIBLE FOOD - and bier, since we are starting in Muenchen ; -) I can't think of any reason to do European delivery. |

Sorry dude, my question was probably a bit misleading I lived in Germany for 11 years so I know WHY you'd want Euro Delivery (BTW, notice the "Badge" in my Sig? ) I'm just not familiar with the European Delivery program. I take it you pick your car up at the factory and then have a certain amount of time before it has to be at the port for stateside shipment??

No need to be sorry - I figured the question was in jest. Regarding European delivery - here's the BMW link (the bums at Porsche charge you to take European delivery) and I wish I'd a lived in Germany for 11 years - it would have been fun!!
