Thats the typical trend. S2k's to BMW's. Hopefully, when Honda decides to build a next generation S2000 I'll be in a position to have my 135i as DD and an AP3 as a toy.

Hard to believe this little car may be almost as heavy as an E46 M3 . Great car nonetheless, can't wait to see and drive it.

Wishful thinking, when I was looking for my next car I spoke with some Japanese engineers from Honda, I don't think you are going to like what you see...

I saw a rendering of the replacement for the S2k...not good! I hope they do a lot of focus groups and the people they select tell them how ugly it is

Comparison 135/E92 M3

Did some digging around I found some specs and interesting comparisons for power/weight ratio. It looks like the magic number is 3440 lbs for the 135.

Rossii, I don't think your source gets us any closer to knowing what the US official spec curb weight will be. The 1560.4 kg/3440 lb weight quoted by that magazine echos the german EU1 weight that we already know adds weight for driver and cargo.

I think the mag just lifted the weight from the German specs and didn't bother to make the adjustments that eMINI made. I think we're back around to eMINI's math again of 3283 lbs for the 135i.

For grins I applied eMINI's formula to the 123d's published German EU1 weight of 1495 kg:
1495 + 4 kg (to top off fuel tank) - 75 kg (for driver/cargo) = 1424 kg = 3139.4 lbs (using the conversion rate of 1 kilogram = 2.204622622 lbs)

From eMINI's post earlier in this thread --

Or 1560 + 4 kg (to top off fuel tank) - 75 kg (for driver/cargo) = 1489 kg = 3283 lb

So, if we call it 3300 lb curb weight we won't be far off. Of course we still won't know how the sample car was equipped vs. stripped. But it gets us in the ball park.

BTW, a quick conversation with my dealer today confirmed something we'd all been thinking and that's that BMW goes to more trouble and expense to remove weight from the larger, more up-market cars than the smaller, more entry-level cars. That's why a 5 is barely heavier than a 3, and a 3 is barely heavier than a 1. It is what it is.

Yeah it's really pleasant to get away from the bf.c flamefest for a while, but then again, that forum is so worth it.
