Need to Top off Coolant
So I was checking things under the hood and noticed that my coolant level is a little low. I'd like to top it off and was wondering what I should use. Is Prestone or some such product going to be compatible with what is already in the reservoir or do I need to get whatever BMW puts in there?

The conventional wisdom for many years has been to only use BMW coolant, mixed 50/50 with distilled water. I wouldn't top it off unless it's dropped below minimum.

a gallon of BMW Pure (non mixed) coolant is only $14. A gallon of distilled water is only $1...if you can afford a bimmer, you can afford $15. Don't take any shortcuts, not good in the long run. and plus, assuming your cooling system has no leaks, it will last you for years.

My light came on yesterday and I'm out of warranty, went to a dealer and they top it up no charge. I'm sure you could do the same.
