Yes. I installed xenons a halogen car but still had the stock FRM which wasnt compatible. I still had use of my low beams and indicators, but the angel eyes and high beams were MIA - as the wiring wasnt the same.
Anyway, after researching it, the FRM will lock up after ~300 (iirc) cycles (on/off) with open circuits i.e. bulb codes. You should either return the stock bulbs or code the bulb checks out |

1. what is the FRM? 2. coding the bulb check out can be done with the equipment in this thread right? 3. what happens if the FRM does lock up? 4. what xenon did you try to install? as in a whole new headlight kit? would be great if you could give me the source of where you got your research, im pretty interested to see what my options are. thanks a lot already for the help

No problem
1. FRM is Fuss raum modul or foot well module - it controls all the lights and is located in the drivers footwell. 2. You can use NCS expert to alter the coding in the FRM to not check the status of the bulb, which will stop the errors. I have not done this myself and it does not seem easy as there are heaps of possible lines of coding to change for it to work. 3. From memory, it just locks those errors and they cannot be cleared - even if you put the bulbs back it will give an error - only a new FRM will fix this. 4. I installed factory xenons i.e. Headlamps, wiring harness, FRM3 and coded it. I got most of my info from ********* dot com, but there is good info on e90post under DIYs and coding. THey will likely charge you an arm and a leg to code it, if they can do it at all. Ive asked 1 dealer in the past about coding and it was only possible for them to code "accessories" etc addons to the vehicle???

NCS Expert can be used to activate/deactivate codes within the programming of certain modules. Folding mirrors that work automatically from lock/unlock are more than likely controlled by the CAS module (Car access system).
If the 1M and 135i share the same CAS module, then it can be coded to work with a 135i. The problem is that the coding is in German and you need to know what the action is in german. I will have a look for you. EDIT: from another forum...might give a go myself. "You can do this only if the car has Power Folding Mirrors, which are part of the Auto Dimming Mirror option, not Comfort Access. Do you have a switch on the Driver's side door to power fold them? If not, you can't code it as you don't have the hardware. If you do have the switch, you can code them to fold with Fob with a long press of the Lock button." Step 1. You must first enable KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB (close windows/sunroof with key fob) in CAS Step 2. Then enable (aktiv) SPIEGEL_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP in the NFRM. Yes I can get rid of the warning message, unlock DVD motion and mirrors folding etc.
Unfortunately I've relocated to Melbourne recently, you guys will have to drive down to Mexico for my free coding service. LOL |
