Talking My Bike Thinks That It's a BMW

The wheel is bent in 2 places, the tube blew out, and the rear suspension is shot.

Damn my bikes jealousy of my car and wanting to impress me with it's ability to pretend to be a BMW!

It's probably more cost effective to buy a new one at this point (so if you have suggestions for a good and kinda cheap but not really light mountain/trail bike I'm listening )

I just thought you guys would get a good chuckle out of this.

I think you are better off fixing it. A good MT bike is about 1500.00 lol.
What were you doing when that happened?

I priced out replacement parts on JensenUSA and it added up to a bit more than $1000. It's an 04 Mongoose AL frame so I'd replace everything except the frame. Add disk brakes, replace the shifters, front fork (which is rusty because my dad left it on the side of the house for a month in the rain)

But it's an old frame and it's not like Mongoose frames are known for serious off roading (as clearly evidenced by my bike, which I broke on a pothole at about 20mph)

Might be worth checking out some of the motobecane models on bikesdirect.com

I picked up a lower end one last year and for the price it totally blew me away. Frame and paint quality is excellent, and virtually all the parts are brand-name.

It's stood up great to mild/moderate use so far.

From the looks of it, I wouldn't blame the bike. It doesn't appear to be cared for at all.

This should probably be towed to OT.

Like I said. My dad left the bike outside last year for a month while I was at college. He pulled it out of the garage and forgot about it basically. I wanted to kill him.

And in OT only 6 people would see it and then ask for nudes of my sister. It's better for a laugh here. Thats why I put it in general.

I have a specialized allez bike (not a mountain bike), but I love it. though their mountain bikes climb dangerously close to $10,000 (fuck that, give me a real motorcycle), they got some options under 1 grand.. Can't vouch for the quality.. but it's "kinda cheap" compared to their $9k bikes

You have a much better management of your temper than I do!
