Wood Issues

I was just at Calgary BMW and the salesman said there has been a freeze on cars being released with wood trim? Has anyone else heard this? Maybe only in Canada?
He was quite a good salesman so I assume he's not talking out his a55!

Oh, and by the way....I test drove a 330i premium sport manual. My car is on order ...I had never really seen one up close or driven one for that matter. I was overwhelmed by the handling, steering and braking....moderately impressed by the acceleration.

Definitely can hardly wait for my car now...oh and contrary to popular belief....active steering is a very nice option...IMO...and I didn't order it.

Thanks jwocky. I did get the feeling that production was delayed because of a quality control issue rather than a supply/demand. I have trouble believing it's a supply issue as when has a supply issue ever affected a new car's production?...come on.

Not really an issue with me as I prefer and have ordered aluminum but the threads aren't consistent with what the dealer told me. I wonder if the owners of wood will have some sort of problem down the line?

Most wood issues these days are solved using a small, blue pill.

Is the Burl Shortage still a problem

Does anyone know what the current status of this problem is for cars coming out of South Africa. IE if I order a car today with Poplar or Burl what is the actual delay time - August/September production or are we talking longer?

I cannot believe that they ran out of wood!!! I look out my window and see oh so many trees - maybe I can help!!!

Thanks to everyone for making this the coolest E90 site on the net.

Are yo in SA ?

The waiting lists for cars here are now sitting in january for 330i and jsut about december for 320i last I heard

Thats just due to the demand for the E90 not because of the wood delays
