So I was in my 135 on it pretty hard and all of a sudden started sounding weird and power was reduced. It's weird cuz the trans seems to be where it needs to be but it builds revs really slow almost like there's no boost. Also it sounds weird when I rev it.

Could this be limp mode?
How do I get it back to normal?
If not what else could it be?

Check engine light came on after turning it off and back on too.

Check engine light + Reduced power? Sounds like a limp mode. Happened to me. Do you have a tune or something? Let your car rest, it will eventually go away.

May also be a cracked charge pipe if you are running a tune.
Do you have a way to read or clear codes?

Can't read codes, I have a BMW PPK1 and it sounds weird do maybe it could be something like he charge pipe.

How long should I let it cool down for before testing again for limp mode to go away if that's what it is.

If its a limp turn the car off and restart it, these cars can misfire easily. Its probably fine.

Did it take long to change out. Did they say why it happened? What were you doing at the time?

CP is one of the easier replacement parts. If you want peace of mind, upgrade to a metal one. Plenty of available options.

I assume that the repair would be covered under warranty if my car has only some BMW performance parts right? Just like nothing aftermarket.

If it's a chargepipe, it's something worth investing in aftermarket. It'll only happen again if you use the one from BMW.

I thought about it but ill just have the dealer take care of it if its under warranty. I mean it sucks but Id rather not spend too much right now as I'm saving up for Blackline LCI taillights. I mean worst case it happens again and it should still be covered.

But I appreciate the input and will keep it in mind.

Yep and remember they can void warranty on certain parts even if they are OEM if they have no record of doing the install themselves. (My PE voided my warranty on the exhaust only because another shop installed it rather than BMW)

Your warranty claims were denied due to a PE muffler? brutal

Yeah, sortof. The dealer comped a related issue with the muffler under "Goodwill". I had to go back to the indy for them to get the muffler to sit right. Ironically, the guy who installed it had been sacked.

ThePPK was installed by them so they won't have that excuse with me.

Problem is dealer was closed today and probably tomorrow so I'll have to take it later in the week. But from everything I've read it seems like charge pipe.

Luckily the gf is out of town and she just got a new X1 so at least I have a way to get around. I'm glad she finally got something I don't mind driving.

Let them figure it out since it's under warranty and all the work done thus far has been theirs. You don't need an aftermarket charge pipe running PPK and if you install one, it'll only further complicate things.

Don't believe me....ask Dan Parker...

"BMW claims the previous engine damage was caused by my dropping a bolt or something when installing a charge pipe."
