Yeah, in Europe though, not the US. (As far as I've been made aware.)

I believe the last we'll ever see of the N54 is the MY2013 335is. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11969620

Makes me feel really good about my N54 135i..

Does this mean they will have both a 135i and 135is version like the 3's?

"The 135is is equipped with sport suspension incorporating an aluminum double-pivot front suspension and a five-link fully independent rear suspension in lightweight steel."

So, does this mean it's the exact same suspension as the regular Sports/M-Sports cars or a bit different? I don't know enough about the low level details on the 1 suspension.

I'd buy it just for that nice badge on the glove box. NOT!
It's a joke...just like the F1 Sauber edition...what a ripoff.

I too want to know what color that is, cause I love blue!

Also sounds like no overboost function on this car, which I find interesting since its an 'is.' Also its really not much different than a 135 with M sport package. I have the stage 1 ppk, perf exhaust, perf short shift kit, perf suspension, black grills, cf spoiler and mirrors so it seems that my car is an 'is+'! Lol

The 335is is currently listed on BMWUSA as having a twinpower turbo, the same as the N55 335i. The same is listed for the Z4 35is. I believe the N54 is already a thing of the past.

most rear suspensions have aluminum pieces, not steal like the F30 has

You may believe that, but it's wrong. Both of those cars have the N54, despite BMW's marketing effort to make it seem like the same engine is in all 35i cars.

If you wanted to get all of the Performance parts, this car isn't such a bad deal, but personally I would only want the power kit and exhaust on my 135i so I'd rather just get those for the 135i I already have.

My 2010 M-sport steptronic with the PPKI has the same hp rating and 15 more ft lbs than either gearboxed 135is. I'll gladly keep what I got.

I think you all just need to accept the 135is as a marketing ploy to keep the car fresh for another 12 months. Nothing more - nothing less. They were never going to bring out something to upset the 1M customers as those guys bought a limited edition version. I just picked up "Edition sport plus" which is what you guys are finally just getting. The blue stiching on the seats, the blacklines, 313's and all are just cosmetic but they sure make the car look more attractive from pick up.

I agree nothing should change about the 1M, except that they should build more. Although 1M owners would like to think BMW has their interests at heart and was trying to create a pricing furor to retain value, I don't think that is the case. They are in the business of selling cars, they got the demand wrong and then said the economics didn't work to build more US spec. If I have read correctly original total estimated total production was around 3,000, but actual ended up being way north of that, with no additional coming to the US.

My question is, If the numbers didn't work to 'homologate' more 1Ms for the US, what is the justification for the 135is? This is what makes me believe that BMW USA did intentionally limit the units in the US.

This is a good decision. I like the 135is much better than the M135i. I keep thinking there may be an issue that delayed the 2 series coupe for another 12months - Styling perhaps?

Stock 135i suspension isn't the best, so hopefully the 135is is tied to the road a bit better.

That's funny... In the rear 3/4 shot of the convertible, there is no side turn indicators on the fender.

I see many people saying this model isn't worth the premium because buyers can mod their own cars for less, but you have to remember that a lot of BMWs in the U.S. are leased. Those of us who lease are far less likely to mod our cars, so the idea of a factory built and warranted car with mods can be appealing.

Also, keep in mind that those of us who lease only pay a fraction of the premium that a package like this adds to the sale price. Assuming this car has a residual of around 64% on a 36 month, 12K mile per year lease, the lessee only pays $360 for each $1,000 added to the price.

Just some food for thought...

My 3 Series lease is up this time next year and I'm targeting an E82 lease, so this extra model is worth considering given my situation.

So are you saying you think this model has a revised suspension compared to a regular Sport/M-Sport E82?
