Used to daily my 135is but switched over to this as it was easier to drive for the wife and more "family friendly". Luckily it has the same N55 motor so the power is still there.
And although totally unnecessary for tri-state the enthusiast within me bought dedicated snow tires yesterday for the X3 haha But I still did get to keep the track toy in my sig |

Until buying the 128 a few weeks ago I was dailying a mazdaspeed Miata 60 miles a day, that got real old after about a year and a half. The 128 is my new daily year round, just need to get a set of snow tires!

Here's how I solve the equation:
DD = ½(X3 6MT) + ½(135is 6MT) Split duty, it's a good mix. The X3 is a lot more fun than I expected, and is great for hauling my road bike and related gear around. The 6MT is a lot of fun with the 3.0L six and Sport Package, and I'm always surprised how many BMW techs don't even seem to be aware that you could get the 6MT trans with the X3 (at least you could until a few years ago...). There is always a lot of interest in it. I haven't tried hauling my large frame bike in the back seat of the 135is with the top down, but I suppose that's a possibility in a pinch. |

Spring, summer and fall I DD both my 128i and GTi.
In the winter, when the salt hits, I store the 1 and DD the GTi. Both cars are an absolute blast to drive. Sometimes its hard to choose which car I want to take! One thing is for sure, I am never selling either of the cars for they have become my blood.

A picture of my GTi with the first retrofit headlight set: For some reason I only have my favourite photos in the winter. Maybe this fall or next spring I'll snap some pictures of the GTi.

crossed 70k miles last night. The 1M has been super reliable and I can't tell you how lucky I feel to have it as my DD. Worth every penny. Live for today and live with no regrets!

The GTi was parked at the edge of my driveway and I had the front door wide open and laid down on the ground to get that shot. The house definitely was colder afterwards! Ok, back to the 1ers!

Wow, that's great!! Way to get your money's worth out of that 1M. How many miles per year do you drive, roughly?

Im gonna go ahead and revive this thread...
altho i dont require a car for my commute, i have the 128i in the garage (off site since my landlord wouldnt let me use the garage on the same property) and i have a saab 9-3 in front of the house on the streets. Saab is for the winter/transport/errand mobile and the 128i is the weekend duty (still racked up 12,000 on the 128i in the past year.... how the fck....) it is great having a smooth NA and traditional turbo in the line up. both cars are joy to drive. |
