Quaife Final Drive Unit available for your 6-Speed Manual 135i at HP Autowerks, Inc.

The wait is over!

Quaife ATB LSD, The Ultimate Differential is now available as a complete ready to install Quaife Final Drive Unit(pumpkin) at HP Autowerks, Inc. with limited supply.

Don't know what a Final Drive Unit looks like on your BMW?***see #1 in the parts illustration below***

That means no more searching for local BMW shops with the knowledge tooling for the Qauife install. Now, it is simply remove your final drive and install the Quaife final drive!

Some information on Quaife ATB:

"The Quaife torque biasing differential enables your car to accelerate quicker and corner faster. How?

By getting the power to the ground!"

"In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both drive wheels, resulting in essentially twice the grip of an ordinary differential (they don't call open diffs "peglegs" for nothing).

In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the Quaife biases power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed."

Here is a video on LSD:

Top tuners using our Quaife LSD:

Berk Technolgy's Redline Time Attack 135i

Burger Motorsport world's quickest 135i

Vishnu Tuning

3.08 Complete Quaife Final Drive(low mileage exchage), $2588 + $1000 refundable core + freight.

First, we need to figure out if you have a bolted or welded diff.

Please PM me your last 7 of the VIN, production date, and transmission type.

Do it yourself? This is a job for an expert in drivetrains, not the typical DIYer. Just a word to the wise. . .

That said, I really love my Quaife.

Have Fun,
Rick

We have not seen a 6 spd that came with a bolted ring gear, unless you have purchased one from BMW or a wrecking yard.

$1450 for the Quaife plus shipping.

Good luck - BMW doesn't show anything as far as parts inside the pumpkin - been there, done that. And you would be extremely fortunate to be able to replace the diff without adjusting the pinion depth and/or the backlash and/or the preload. The adjustment for the pinion depth requires a snap-ring that acts as a shim, and last I checked (about 1.5 months ago) the various sizes of snap-rings are not in the parts system. How good is your filing/shaving technique?

But then if you have a 6MT you have an entirely different issue - a welded-on ring gear. Good luck with that, too.

Have Fun,
Rick

It will be the 3.46. I'm tentatively planning on coming down the weekend of May 16th, but I'll let you know as soon as I have a firm plan.

Anyone have any first hand experience with putting the 3.46 in a manual 135i?
