**Riss Racing** Catch can question thread
Hi everybody!
Just wanted to answer some questions that have been asked lately. Instead of someone saying :, when you ask if a catch can helps, I'd rather put this thread up to show real life experiences with the N54 motor and OIL. I've seen tooooo many threads of people saying "I don't think its needed, " I doubt you'll need a catch can." The reason for this post is to base our information on FACTS rather than a guess. I've attached a few posts that are in reference to actual people that have taken off their intake pipes/intercooler pipes and have SEEN the oil themselves. This is not something that should be looked at lightly. Some of these customers have seen PUDDLES of oil in their charge pipes. Eventually that may lead to more problems inside your actual turbo housing. Here's a few threads you guys can look at. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=127 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=oil+catch http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=17 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=24 There are probably a few more threads but I just searched "oil catch can" and these came up. If there is anybody else guessing if this is a much needed mod, just do the test yourself. Take off the intercooler pipes or even the stock BOV's and put your finger inside the pipes. Do you see oil coated against the sides? I wanted to do this research for you guys so you don't think you're buying something worthless. This will help your engine in the long run and definitely help your motor run at full potential! Any questions/concerns are always welcome. Thanks guys! |

The hold up is we don't cut corners. We could have just taped off the fittins and coated all the cans black. However, I made our techs take each one fully apart all the fittings etc too coat them. Then we have to put them all back together. We also made a chage to get the logo R in red to look better. We are putting them all back together now and are trying to ship as fast as possible. We have told everybody that has PM'd/email/called us we will refund the order at anytime you don't want too wait. We are working on this as fast as we can and apologize for the dealy!

Hopefully this answers some questions about the functionality of the catch can. These N54's are pretty dirty when it comes to oil in the engine. These links are just a few I've searched. If your cars fairly new, get the catch can and keep the motor running perfect!

I am interested in buying the oil catch can and the N54 installation kit for my 135 and I have the following questions:
Did the coated oil catch can have a baffle (or foam filter) inside to help condensing the oil vapor? Why did "US Ground" cost $10 while "US overnight" and "US priority" cost nothing? What is the difference between "US overnight" and "US priority"?

Thank you for your interest in our RR Catch Can w/ N54 Install Kit. The intakes all come baffled with stainless steel wool which will capture more of the moisture/vapor inside the canister. We have not updated the shipping for overnight and priority yet since shipping rates have changed recently. It usually takes 4 days for ground so most people request this. If you're interested in overnight or priority, we can give you separate pricing based on this. Please let us know! |

Any known issues with the warranty if we go to the dealership with the catch can installed?

Installed RR OCC on July 08, didn't empty it (not a good idea) till today.
The indicator window doesn't show there's oil but I guess when oil start showing up on that indicator window, you've 1/2 can full of oil already. from now on, I'm gonna empty it every month. |

You do not have to change to oil in your car to install the catch can. We suggest you empty the catch can once a month. Or once every two months if you don't drive much. Thank you! |
