So how about that 335?

For all those who said BMW would not release a 335 turbo charged engine, how about you now!!!
Most of us here said it would happen but there were those who flat denied the possiblity. Well now that it is official I hope all those doubters will shut their pie holes. We were right and you were wrong!!

I'm a little disappointed in the spy coupe pics. It looks a little soft.

Back looks like the Camry.

jmc, Europe was always getting a Turbo. But you are right; even when the N54 was unveiled, there were a couple of people who were still saying that this means nothing for the US market, and that there is a "secret" 3.5 liter in development, blah blah.

The 3.5 liter supposition was likely because all were unsure if BMW could get the Direct injection/turbo engine tweaked so that it could meet emissions standards in time for the '07 model year.

However, generally speaking, anyone that thought BMW wasn't going the forced induction route was sadly mistaken.

The 335 does have 306 hp....in European form.

Different hp measurement standards for the U.S. make it 300.

Haha yea exactly man. How about that moron SpeedFreak!

That idiot car dealer trying to convince and yell at people to tell them a 3.5l was coming out. What a dumbass. This is what the problem with car dealers are, they are all stupid but arrogant at the same time. He actually believed he had some kind of inside information. hahaha BMW could give a shit about their car dealers, and these forums will have information way before they do.

GOod riddance to bad info from SpeedFreak..

Come to think of it, had there not been a certian "freak!", the number of the "3.5L N/A" theory supporters would have been reduced greatly. He was the sole reporter of such engine, and claimed to have "a few" high up and reliable official sources.

EDIT: as it turns out, he's neither a good salesman nor a good "source".

Actually, I think it was nice of SpeedFreak! to provide what info he did have. What was annoying was that he would start making personal attacks on anyone who claimed that he might be wrong. People would say something like "well, that's purely speculution or possibly misinformation from your source" and he would fly off the handle.

And then when the turbo engine was unveiled, he still said "Nothing has been said for the US yet". And finally, when it became clear that the turbo was coming to the US, he went on about how he was still "Right" because he claimed info about the turbo a year before anyone else. Ok, so if you start claiming info on every single possibility, then of course, one of them is going to hit paydirt. Big deal!

i don't think there was really any doubt, it just got lame because majority of the people would get their panties in a bunch over "official" information that wasn't even "official". before the 335i coupe came out, 335i talk just got boring and repetitive.

All I'm wanting to point out is that the 335i will NOT be replacing the 330i.
So, everyone who worried about pricing and having an "old" model 330i, or those who thought BMW would actually replace a 330i with a performance model 335i, are just wrong.

Also, I don't see a 328 or 323 in that release.
No need to bash people about their opinions.
I'm just glad that the 335i is a high performance thus high dollar option, NOT replacing the 330i, and hopefully not the 330i sedan either.

BTW, your eyes are not deceiving you: there is indeed an AWD coupe on the way.

RPM90, Why dont you read the BMWUSA article? In europe, yes the 330 coupe is still around. In the US: NO!

There is NO E92 330 in the UNITED STATES.

And if the coupe is debuting with 328 and 335, it's likely that the sedan will either follow this very fall, or next fall.

So the 330 sedan is probably on it's way out.

My contact stated that much earlier too...

The 328xi coupe will SOP in September along with the sedan...there will be no 335xi coupe but the 335xi sedan will SOP in March of 2007.

So what does a factory built tt engine mean for the aftermarket companies? It seems that the biggest gains in aftermarket mods are always made in cars that come turbo'd from the factory. Anyone care to speculate what Hamann, Alpina, etc. will be reasonably capable of? I figure that at the very least we will see a widebody variant with a FMIC before the end of the year.
