rattling

I didn't get under a bridge fast enough in the spring, caught some hail. About quarter size dimples, probably 10 of them. Decided that it bothered me too much, so had it taken out (all paintless).

The problem now is that the shop didn't do a perfect job putting the interior back together. I hear some rattling now - it's not a significant amount, but I'm OCD about it. Is this something that's unfixable just by virtue of having the interior taken appart and put back together, or did they just do a shoddy job?

What part of the interior did they have apart ? There are a million plastic\ metal clips and screws that could have fallen during removal and install? I have had this interior part many time myself , if you can pin point an area where its coming from I could give you some pointers!

the roof for certain. it now sounds like they left something on top of the roof liner - a good turn will send something scurrying up there. also, the passenger-side a-pillar bows out a little bit in the middle, and i can push on it and make the edge move about a 1/4"...

If you pop of the A pillar there are two clips and a torques 25 that holds it down. My guess is one of those clips is not snapped in, most likely the clip is broken causing it to just bow out. As far as the roof, is it along the side or the center? If its coming from either side you can remove the handles from the roof which will either be a torques or a Philips head and just pull downward on the door seal and you will be able to inspect up there. I had one customer who had a rattling right above his head and when I removed the handle and inspected it I found a piece of plastic that was supposed to be glued to the head liner as a support fixture was no longer attached causing a wicked rattling noise.

However what I do with my car is that whenever I hear a new rattle I search for it, take that interior panel off and put some THICK double sided tape on the inside of it! Works a treat
