-BLUETOOTH -/RETROFIT/ AFTER MARKET/!...

Hi everyone!

I was wondering, if you guys could help me, Im interested in adding the bluetooth option to my existence 128i(NO Idrive-NO BMW Assist). But the car is prepared from factory to install the Bluetooth parts.

I went to a BMW Dealer, and they told me, that in order to build the bluetooth system I will need to order some of the parts from them.BUT IT´S TO EXPENSIVE. We are talking about $1200...

So, im looking for someone, who knows or has experiences this dificulties.

Maybe Parrot sell the bluetooth part that the car need,(Cheapest way?)

Thank you,

Sincerely,

BJB

I think the entire radio head unit must be replaced also for bluetooth connectivity.

I think that you can get all the parts and programming for the OEM Assist/Bluetooth retrofit much cheaper than that if you follow this official retrofit thread (it applies to the 1 Series): http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122545

from what I've found you (we) have three OEM options

1. Retrofit assist. You will need the bluetooth assist TCU, overhead console, microphone, loudspeaker, antenna and 4 nuts to bolt the tcu onto the bracket in the trunk if you have 6fl (ipod) or 8 nuts to mount the tcu to the bracket to the trunk if you have no 6fl. You'll have to switch 2 fiber optic cables like you do with the e90 instruction- I would be going ahead with one of these options if I knew where those cables were so the dealer wouldn't get the money to find them for me. Then bolt everything up- getting the overhead console out is a bitch. then take it to the dealer for programming- I've heard assist programming takes 3 hours because the dealer starts out confused and figures it out.

2. Get the assist/TCU module, or the appropriate M-ULF and opt for no assist. You probably will not need the new over head console and can just put the microphone in your current console, which as I said doesn't come out all that easily. Mount the parts in, switch the fiber optic cables and have the dealer program it for just the phone, I imagine they could get this done in an hour. If you get he appropriate M-ULF from europe and not the TCU, you will have german or french voice prompts, just the way it is so far. I'll probably go for this option when I get more info and just buy the TCU so I could upgrade to assist if I decided I wanted to.

3. The 6fl (ipod) M-ULF that already exists in the trunk has bluetooth capability and the debate is over whether or not it can be programmed in the USA to accept bluetooth phones. If so, this option would only require programming and the microphone, loudspeaker and antenna, maybe the fiber optic cable switching. Again you'd need to have the 6fl option and BMW USA will have to allow phone upgrading for only a few hundred bucks- sorry about the cynicism, but that's not BMWs typical MO.

that's what I've gathered based on the e90/91/92/93 which also use the new MOST system, I'm sure others have input as well

Final testing is being performed as we speak on our 1-series. We'll be updating the forums as soon as we're completed.

Tom-

Is the bluetooth you're going to offer going to be OEM, mObridge, other aftermarket brand or all of the above? thanks
